Wondeful staff, great food, lovely beach locationPosted Mar 23, 2014
Pros: Particularly liked the close location to the beach, peaceful small hotel, comfortable clean and unpretentious and very friendly helpful staff
Cons: Wifi in room would be nice but had great wifi on beach and loungers and did make it easy to get teens out of rooms!
Location: Dolphin trip on west coast very successful. Though only see few dolphins on surface with snorkel saw 20 plus below surface.
Not really meant for children but I went with my 3 daughters - 9 and 14 yr old twins and we had a fab time. We don't want kids club anymore nor special children's food . Lovely buffets most meals with evening buffet 3 times per week and set meals the other 4. Often Mauritian curries or more adult style food they did also serve toasted sandwiches/burgers/chips in the afternoon so the youngest child could supplement with this. The staff were very friendly and Rishi (restaurant) was a delight with his endless jokes and tricks for my 9 year old. We had a garden room and yes it was old fashioned but I don't like places mega sparkly. We booked last minute through Expedia and were pleased with everything. We emailed the hotel for an airport transfer and a friendly taxi driver met us in his new minibus. We were only there 5 days and parked ourselves on the loungers for most of the time , enjoying the close proximity to the beach with free use of the free pedalos and free snorkelling. No real problems getting loungers and guys very helpful to provide extra umbrellas if all taken. Our trip to swim with the dolphins on the west coast was very successful - hour and a half drive to west coach beach, speed boat out to many dolphins and swimming with them. Our guide was very good. The set up at Siver Beach Hotel is best for older couples but also good for families with older children who don't want to be classed as children any more but who are prepared to behave as adults!

Lovely hotel staff and very attentive.Posted Feb 23, 2014
Pros: Location and staff
Cons: Meal choice and adjustable sunbeds
Location: Have to take a taxi or hire a car to go anywhere outside the hotel
A lovely relaxing week but money was spent on taxi fares to visit other places. Evening food was often lukewarm and could be more varied Sunbeds were plentiful but could not be adjusted

Our wonderful trip to the MauritiusPosted Apr 4, 2013
Pros: Being so close to the ocean, the really nice staff and the food and entertainment.
Cons: Unfortunately it rained in our room.
Location: The hotel is very well located, with a very nice ocean view . It has a garden with a lot of birds. There were a lot of sun beds in the beach.
This is a very small hotel, very cosy. We stayed in a room with ocean view. The view was amazing, but unfortunately on our first night it rained in our bed, from the roof. There were no other rooms with such a nice view, so we end up staying. Luckily, it only rained again one night, so we pulled the bed against the wall. The staff were really nice and very helpful. The food was amazing. Very close to the sea front, the swimming pool was small, but nice and there were a lot of beautiful birds in the garden. We did go snorkelling in the bay and saw some very nice fish and corals.

Clean but basic. Nice beach with great snorkelling. Great shower in room but no ventilation for the steam. Food overall was average or poor. Desserts were terrible. Cocktails were light on alcohol but at least they had beer on tap. Nothing fancy about the hotel and though a 3 star hotel it's not that cheap to dtsy there. No real lounge area in bar and so lacked any atmosphere in the evening.

A winnerPosted Nov 23, 2011
The hotel isn't the most amazing one in terms of design and room furniture but really that was the least of our worries when we were there (mid-November 2011). The staff is super nice and friendly. The all-inclusive formula is amazing: awesome food and service, and drinks are included all day long. The pool isn't amazing but who needs it when you have the beautiful beach just 10 metres away from your room. You can have a delicious breakfast then roll down to the beach, roll back up for lunch, back down again for a nap and up again for dinner! You can also do some canoeing, snorkling and pedalo-ing! The hotel cab drivers are nice and friendly. Cab fares are not cheap but well that's the way it is. The hotel also proposes some great excursions, the South one is worth it (swim with the dolphins, Chamarel, Trou aux Cerfs etc.) and so is Port Louis (along with Pamplemousse botanical gardens and Eureka). The hotel is also a 10-minute walk away from Trou d'Eau Douce where you can do a bit of shopping and Centre de Flacq is accessible by bus for 25 Rupees. The area is really nice and quiet. It is a bit windy there but to be honest this is very welcome as it can get quite hot on the beach (beware of sun burns!). All in all, I highly recommend this hotel.

Excellent 3 star hotelPosted Nov 19, 2011
If you can afford a 5 star stay there but if you can't this 3 star hotel will surprisingly meet your expectations. Small and friendly, quiet beach front location, superb cuisine and good service. A little gem!

Best Mauritius HotelPosted Aug 11, 2010
This was one of the best hotels we've visited. We had 5 star treatment and loved everyminute. The only downfall of the stay was weather was bad but the staff at the hotel catered for evening entertainment and the food was fantastic despite us being vegetarian.

Needs a new chef!Posted Jul 23, 2008
We stayed at Silver Beech for a few days as part of our honey moon. It has a great location on the beech (although it is def not private as it advertises). The service is fantastic for an all inclusive but sadly the quality of food and drink leaves a lot to be desired. The all inclusive wine is the worst we have tasted -it is on a par with the stuff you drank from jugs in Greece on your last 18/30 holiday - you can pay a large amount for a proper bottle. The beer is weak but the cocktails are ok. The food looks ok but lacks taste especially the desserts, its also very samey every day - however breakfast is very good. The whole place looks a bit tired and could do with a makeover but as i said all the staff where fab - we would hesitate to book again purely on the quality of food and drink.
