"Luxury Tulum"
The nicest hotel in Tulum. Big rooms, all with a private pool if downstairs or a desk space and large indoor tub upstairs. Great spa facilities, bar and beach area. The staff were very friendly, although for a hotel marketing itself at this level they could have been more attentive. The bar staff were generally good, and everyone was very nice, but on three of our seven nights there was no turn down in our room meaning we didn't have bottled drinking water (the tap water is not drinkable) and the room easily got sandy. Other than that, a great hotel.

"Way Beyond Our Expectations -Excellent Staff, Food"
THE FOOD and DRINKS: We are normally not the "all inclusive" types since we are very particular about the quality and variety of our food. (We live in San Francisco and are, what some would call, "foodies." ) However, since we were going with another couple and found an all-inclusive deal that was very affordable, we tried it out. We figured that the all-inclusive was worth it, even if we just had free drinks at the pool each day! We were very surprised to discover that the food was quite good. For all meals, you order off menus. There is not a buffet - they prepare everything to order. We typically ordered espresso drinks and breakfast at the garden restaurant, had lunch delivered to us poolside, and ate 3 courses for dinner in the upper dining room. Nearly all of the items that we ordered were excellent. Drinks were also included and were excellent. Nice Cuban rums, some top shelf spirits, and several Mexican beers on tap. Marco, the bartender at the pool, was extremely helpful and creative. The service here is really quite exceptional - they definitely aim to please and are very well trained. THE PROPERTY: The property is also immaculate, located directly on the sea. There are linen beds right next to the sea, where you watch and listen to the waves crashing against the rocks as you take your afternoon nap. The infinity pool is huge, has plenty of high quality furniture, includes a swim-up bar, and also has very efficient cocktail and food service .

"Excellent location, personal touch !"
Situated literally right on the beach, the My Tulum Cabanas were the perfect little getaway down in Tulum for a few days. Being eco friendly, there were no tv's or air con, just your bed, a hammock and the sea breeze. Yeli - the hotel manager - went beyond what I had expected. She would chat with me at breakfast and by the end of my stay she felt like a friend. Just a short bike ride to the Tulum Ruins and in a very peaceful section of the hotel zone. I will definitely stay here again when I'm back in the Tulum area! :)

"Breezy rooms, clean beach, private"
Surprised at the cool breeze off the ocean at night. The rooms were perfectly fine with the ocean breeze alone, but a large quiet fan was also provided though we never needed it. Showers were a little salty, but your skin and hair feel normal so aside from tasting the water it was like a regular shower to me. There IS hot water its just labeled with a C for Caliente which is hot is Spanish. Very clean, white powder soft beaches great for walking or getting a work out. I was surprised to find so many hippie, vegan, yoga types at this beach but it was very relaxing and the food was fabulous esp the ceviche. The complimentary breakfast included an array of fresh fruits and your choice of hot cakes, croissant or French toast which tasted more like banana bread. Yum! Also included was cappuccino, frappuccino and coffee. I'd recommend this hotel for couples looking to reconnect..if you have children be aware there is no television and its rather quiet. Playa Azul is about a 1.5 miles from "town" but Zamas is in the heart of it. FYI..this is a topless beach but I only saw 2 in 4 days.

"Simple, yet very quiet and relaxing!"
Would recommend if you're planning to experience Tulum Playa. We stayed 3 nights in room 22 beachside and it was surrounded by lush green and just steps down a small path to the beach. This hotel is a part of The Beach Tulum and is also associated with Ziggy's restaurant. Each morning we had a complimentary breakfast at Ziggy's and was a huge plus to be able to start our day with a beachside breakfast and a quick email catch-up with their complimentary internet. Location is toward the middle of the beach zone and an easy walk up or down the beach to the various restaurants and resorts. Only complaint was from my wife, who wanted hot water instead of the warm water from their showers. Other than that, we'd return in a heartbeat if we come back.

"Relaxing Getaway in Tulum!"
This beautiful hotel is located on the beach. The room was immaculate, the staff very accommodating and the food was delicious. Tulum is not lighted at night and you might want to bring a flash light if you are going somewhere on foot.

"Simple hotel, great location, excellent staff"
This is a very simple hotel about 4.5km down the Tulum beach road. The outside environment is beautiful--well taken care of beach 'jungle' and a pristine section of beach. Many other hotels in this area (in particular, those to the north) have beaches which are rocky or dirty--not the case with this hotel. The rooms are basic--a bed private bath and hot shower with nothing but a fan and the ocean breeze in lieu of air conditioning (you don't need it). We stayed in a jungle room, which still had a nice breeze from the ocean. The restaurant was good--much less expensive than some of the higher-end places near by. I like to eat typical Mexican food while in Mexico--huevos rancheros, tacos, fresh fruit, etc., all of which just don't have the same flavor as they do in the U.S.A. I think it may be the water--kind of like New York bagels. The restaurant, run by Corina, is exactly what I look for. Also check out Camello's in Tulum pueblo. If you are looking for high-end cuisine (e.g. Italian, Thai) or restaurants with chef's from New York rather than Mexico, there are plenty around. There are two things that you can't beat about this hotel: the beach, which is a given, and the staff. Ray, Corina, and the rest of the staff were the best of the best. They treated us so well, and were accommodating in every way possible. It was nice to have staff that got to know you and your preferences while you are there. They really made us feel comfortable.

Pocket Guide: Tulum, Riviera Maya Shopping Hotels

Built on a bluff facing the rising sun, the Mayan ruins of Tulum offer breathtaking views of the Caribbean. Just south of Akumal, Tulum’s proximity to Cancun makes it the most visited archeological site in Mexico. The village of Tulum, along the main highway, offers shops, restaurants, and cantinas. To the north, tourists can swim with dolphins or dive among brilliantly colored fish at Xel-Ha.
