The hotel couldn't ruin an excellent week.

Pros: Location, price, bar staff was friendly. Recommend the bar food (onion rings, breakfast sandwich), any high end food is terrible and should be avoided
Cons: Attention to detail. Going out of your way to make your guests stay more enjoyable. The ice situation was ridiculous.
Location: Coco bistro is easily walkable. More expensive super market can be walked or easily biked to. We stocked up at the larger IGA super market via cab.
I went from Wednesday to Wednesday to attend a destination wedding. I arrived a day earlier than most in our party, and the staff was relatively helpful with taking the bags to the rooms and such. I stayed in both a 1 bedroom botanical and 2 bedroom ocean view. I split the 2 bedroom with another friend, but had to book end the trip with the 1 bedrooms, as he only stayed Thursday to Monday. Both rooms were spacious, clean, and in expected working order for the most part. I had called ahead and spoke with the manager about the two bedroom, as I wanted to have a 2nd floor room. I was assured over the phone this wouldn't be an issue. When it came time to check in on Thursday, I was shown a 3rd floor "two bedroom". This was in actuality a 1 bedroom and studio next door. Completely separate, except a shared entry way. After some heated debate, I was shown an actual two bedroom on the second floor. It came with two single beds, which were pushed together and the mattress replaced. This was exactly what I had asked for in the first place. The combined patio was spacious with access from the master bedroom and living room. Then the ice maker broke. The resort only has 1 ice maker, which services the bar and restaurant. You thave to ask for more ice at the bar. The refrigerators in the room do not have ice makers, but come with a couple trays. At a resort where most buy food and alcohol at the supermarkets, ice is a necessity. It was broken for the remainder, the bar ran out regularly

Ok hotel with fair service.

Pros: The beach is beautiful
Cons: The staff and furnishings
Location: Location is fair but seemed crowded with the surrounding properties.
the staff was not over helpful or friendly. i thought the furnishings were dated and worn. The shower didn't work well and the showerhead was not working well. The restaurant staff was friendly and nice but the food was disappointing. Our coconut shrimp was frozen and not good. The salads were ok. The beach chairs were not comfortable and the staff was not helpful. The towels were too small for the chairs. This may be a good hotel for families but didn't seem very comfortable or romantic for couples. The beach however, was fabulous and the swimming was superb.

Great resort for a peaceful vacation!
Posted Jan 3, 2013
Pros: The quiet pool at the end of the afternoon ... no screaming, jumping, people; it was nice to relax peacefully listening to the water fall sounds.
Cons: Getting the temperature of the room below 80 degrees!
Location: The lush gardens are lovely with little lizards, hummingbirds, floral sights and aromas; and a random roaming kitty cat! The beach equally beautiful.
Hotel rooms, grounds, beach, restaurtant, staff, pools, etc. were all you could hope for. The only problem we encountered was that we could not regulate the temperature of our room. Everyday it would register 83 degrees; the staff would send someone over and when we went back to the room, it was cooler .... but, it would start creeping back up to the 83 degree range. We kept the curtains drawn, did not use the oven or the clothes dryer; still the temp would rise. It was usually cooler on the deck! We were very thankful for the ceiling fans ... wouldn't have been too bad but we were attending a wedding on the island and it was challenging to get all "dressed" in that heat! Would definitely return and stay at the Royal West Indies.

Location: Grace Bay Beach...Beautiful!
We had a luxurious six night stay at the Royal West Indies Resort and will be back again and again. From the moment you step foot on the property where you are greeted by smiling front desk staff and a glass of Bambara Punch the experience does nothing but delight. The beach is beautiful and relaxing. Lenny, Mario, Reny & Myla were Phenomenal customer service. Breakfast, & dinner at the Pelican Reef restaurant was consistently excellent.

Serene Getaway

Pros: Comfortable rooms and beautiful quiet beach
Cons: Hotel restaurant
Hotel, beach, and ocean were all we had anticipated. Quiet, beautiful, and serene. A very attentive but unobtrusive staff. Our room was well appointed - nice little kitchenette, plenty of hot water and good water pressure for showers, excellent climate control (room never got too cold from air conditioning). On the non-plus side: water sports did not maintain a motorboat so we were discouraged from sailing and were told that in the event of a capsize (which happens frequently with hobie cats in high winds) we would have to be rescued by a hired boat to the tune of 100 dollar fee! We noted that the hotels on either side of us both had motor boats which got ample use in rescue efforts. They should have a boat! In view of the high cost of everything we opted to have breakfast and lunch on our balcony and then go to dinner at a nice restaurant. Bring coffee, nuts, dried fruit, granola bars and such. There's an excellent market within walking distance. If you can bring in your own wine/spirits, do it - we never checked on that in advance. The hotel population was mostly adults but there were some families - still the beach and gardens were always quiet. Odds and ends: cabs are unregulated so check with the driver in advance about the cab fee (no meters). This hotel is adjacent to the Grace Bay Hotel which has very fine, though expensive, restaurants - good for a splurge. We noted a little casino very close to the resort (5 minute walk).

A nice facility for a fair price.

Pros: Gardens and quiet pools.
Cons: Staff at desk.
Location: We liked the location. It was walking distance to market. No on site snorkling.
The hotel is one of the older establishments but is kept up well and was worth what we paid. The staff at the ocean were quite good; efficient and pleasant. The desk staff were less helpful, to the point that one did not seek their assistance with plans. We were not able to print our boarding tickets there, they had no newspapers or news summaries. Noise from Club Med was not a problem, maybe because it was off season. We liked the location, toward the end of the beach because we wanted a quiet vacation. If one wanted more activity, as young folks often do, this is not the place for them. We would consider going back but would price some hotels that we liked when we went for dinner.

Great place to stay for going to the beach
Posted Jan 22, 2013
Pros: Close to the beach, clean, well kept up. The Garden is great! Stayed at the Ritz in Maui and I liked these gardens better.
Cons: Not much really. For the price I am not sure how it could be beat. The pool is a little dirty.
Location: great location.
This was a fantastic place to stay. We were on a 2nd floor garden view which had a nice balcony overlooking the pool and gardens. With the doors closed there was no noise. Wifi worked well in building 6. The rooms are a little dated and our microwave sounded like a train, but the clothes washer with provided detergent was great. Another negative is that the hot water does not last long and smells a bit like sulfur. The bed was comfortable though and the was kept Very clean. The beach and ocean were fantastic. only one day out of 9 was it hard to find a chair with an umbrella. Everything is within walking or bike riding distance if you don't want to rent a car, but we loved driving around. There are places you probably don't want to go for safeties sake, but definitely visit Chalk Sound if you get a car. There is a restaurant there named Las something. Can't remember the last name, but it is right on the sound and the water is so aquamarine and pretty there. The food is good there and for this island, fairly reasonably priced. We ate many meals out and for whatever reason they all wound up being about $50 for two people. The hotel restaurant was OK. The most reasonable way to eat is to go to the IGA and get groceries though. Anyway, unless you want tons of amenities this is a great place to stay and I would love to again. By the way, the cab ride to and from the airport is $30, no tip. Outside the airport there is someone that will get you a cab.

3rd Floor Studio
Posted Jan 9, 2013
Pros: The room was more than adequate, the staff was friendly and helpful, the beach was beautiful.
Cons: guests should be prevented from putting towels on the beach sun beds then leaving for hours
Location: The hotel was about a 10 minute walk from the main center
We had a 3rd floor studio with a balcony overlooking the garden; clean, comfortable and very pleasant in the evening to sit outside reading and looking at the pants and trees. Used the restaurant for breakfast, one lunch and a dinner the food was good as was the service and friendly attitude of the staff. The front desk staff were very helpful when we had a problem with our rental car and was unable to get anyone from Budget to respond to our calls No problem checking in or out

Nice hotel, good location to restaurants and shops
Posted Jan 5, 2013
Pros: Location!!
Cons: Pools need cleaning. In a few years rooms may need updating.
Location: Close to shopping plaza and a lot of restaurants with in walking distance.
We loved the location of the hotel because you could walk to a lot of the nice restaurants and the beach was very nice in that location. The rooms were adequate but could use some updating. The biggest disappointment was the pools were in need of re-furbishing but sine the beach was great it did not really matter. The hotel staff was not that accommodating or friendly. The dining experience on the island was excellent although expensive. All that being said we would return to this resort.
