Excellent hotel on the Alabama campus

Posted Apr 7, 2014
Attended a University of Alabama reception and this hotel is right on the campus! Within walking distance to the event, and everything else on campus. Check-in was quick and flawless. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Bar and restaurant were newly renovated and very enjoyable.

Good, but room for improvement

Posted Jan 9, 2014
Pros: Convenience to UA campus, nice accommodations, good breakfast (additional cost).
Cons: Mattress in my particular room seemed a bit broken down. Probably time to replace.
Location: Very convenient to the University of Alabama and downtown Tuscaloosa.
This is the second time that I have stayed at the Capstone in relation to my children being student at University of Alabama. The staff upon check-in and check-out are very courteous and helpful. I originally booked a room with 1 king bed, but then my son was not able to move in to his dorm at the last minute and had to stay with me. There was no problem changing to a room with 2 beds. The room itself and the bathroom appeared very clean, the problem was with the bed itself. Upon pulling back the covers, there was what looked like a tuft of hair that had been clipped, very short, but definitely a tuft of hair...very unusual to say the least. I first thought it was a brown feather from maybe a pillow, but it could have come from the laundry or something. Otherwise, all else was very clean. My only other complaint was that the mattress seems to have seen better days. It may be time for an update as it was somewhat cratered in on one side, but still not terribly uncomfortable, just not as comfortable as I had expected. The buffet breakfast was quite good, the usual bacon, eggs and sausage with grits, yogurt, fruit, bagels and cereal to round it out. The staff in the restaurant is very friendly and nice, very hospitable and even offered a to-go cup of coffee to take with me. I would definitely stay there again, given its convenience to the UA campus and hospitality and comfort. The maintenance worker that I came in contact with upon checking in was also very helpful.

A GREAT PLACE TO STAY IF YOU VISIT UNIV OF ALA

Posted Dec 2, 2013 on Hotels.com
Very nice hotel. Great location on the grounds of the University of Alabama. As good or better than any of the chain locations in the area. it even has a little bar. I'd highly recommend this hotel. I plan to stay here again if I can get reservations.
