Great scenery but not much else

Posted Jun 2, 2010
Our first impression of the Relais Pian di Vico from the outside was great. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. But then we went inside. We were the first guests of the season and it was quite evident that the room had not been used in several months. It smelled like my grand mother's basement and was absolutely freezing. When we asked how to make the room warmer we were told that they had to turn on the main system which took close to an hour to "warm up". The water from the tap was rusty at first but then cleared up as we ran the water. The shower curtain was moldy (although they did change it after we brought it our attention) and the curtains musty. There were cobwebs and dead bugs accumulated all around the windows. The staff, although friendly, were almost non-existent. The tv didn't work and there was no phone and no coffee maker in the room as described in the hotel information. Although this is a very charming place, we would never stay there again. If you are looking for an out of the way place with great scenery but not much else, then you may enjoy this hotel.

Lovely small hotel in quiet countryside

2 hours easy journey by car from Rome. Lovely small hotel in quiet countryside. About three miles from nearest town - Tuscania. Rooms with bath are large - we also stayed in a smaller room with shower. Large open air pool is super.
