Room was small and a.c. was not cooling. General appearance of hotel was older and they attempted to update. Luckily we just needed a place to sleep. Don't know how it got a high rating on Trip Advisor.

Pros: for me location close to UT Tyler.
Cons: Tell the patrons you put a temporary charge of $20 on their credit card just in case there is damage or theft to the room.
Location: tour the campus.
Quiet, clean, professional. Breakfast was fine. Not exceptional. Eggs tasted synthetic. Cinnamon rolls made up for it.

Bathroom was not very clean, floor was sticky. The night manager was kind and gave us a top floor room. The elevator is horrible and shared with cleaning staff. Pool was nasty, hot tub was not warm, informed front desk, they asked if I was a priority memebr(which I am but should not matter at all) because they have to "heat" it up for 45 minutes before use. Well it was 9:15, our backs were killing us, and the pool area closes at 10:00. Needless to say, no relaxing after an 8 hour trip, no swimming because of unclean condition. Hotel smells like a bar because of all the stagnate cigarette smoke. Beds weren't bad, actual tempurpedic mattresses. It's a real shame this hotel has no pride of ownership. Will not return.

Excellent stay!! Everything in the room was in working order. No need to call for room service. The entire floor was quiet which enabled me to get the rest I needed. I'd stay at this H-I-E when I'm in town again!

We enjoyed our one-night stay in this hotel. The suite-style room was quite large, which was a big help to me, my wife, and two young adult children all staying in the room. The free breakfast was not stellar but adequate. Free wireless Internet was a plus. Be aware that many of the photos of the property were taken with a wide-angle lens, so the pool is not as large as we expected. Other than that, my only complaint is that the air conditioner did not have an "ON" setting for the fan so we could have it run continuously, even when the compressor was not on. We like to run the fan on the A/C to help cover up the noises that inevitably come in a hotel. As it was, the fan cycled on and off all night, and I think I woke up each time it did that. This is a minor annoyance though, and I would still give our stay five stars overall.

Pros: Liked the staff, & how clean the rooms are
Location: Can't really say anything because I was in & out during the night time hours (darkness) but there is plenty of places to eat nearby
We've stayed here before & wanted to make another stayover as Tyler is approx. half way to Vicksburg where we were headed anyway. Really like this hotel & it's staff.

The service was great. We'd happily stay here again. My only issue was that the drain in the tub was extremely slow. It was really late when I used the shower, and I only stayed 1 night, so I didn't bother to have maintenance come fix it. I told the lady at the front desk, and she was very apologetic and made note of it (so I hope it gets fixed). My room was on the 2nd floor above the main entrance. I could hear people downstairs talking as they stood outside the entrance. It's close to eat and shop, but also not a crowded or busy side of town.
