A Characterful Hotel in Rural WalesPosted Nov 18, 2013 on Hotels.com
We had a wonderful weekend in this small 400 year old very quaint hotel. It is cosy, comfortable and very welcoming, with lots of beams and rustic features. The food is exceptional and worthy of a top class restaurant and the owner was very attentive, nothing was too much trouble. Because of it's situation between two mountains mobile phone and internet connection were limited, there are also no televisions, but we enjoyed the break from the real world and read books! Very refreshing. Highly recommended.

WeirdPosted Jun 30, 2013 on Hotels.com
I did not feel welcome when I arrived, service was made to look like it takes allot of effort. It felt as if I visited a strange country where they do things very differently to what I am used to, staying in hotels all the time all over the UK

Calder idrisPosted Jun 8, 2012 on Hotels.com
We had evening dinner here and food was excellent plus great English breakfast next day. stayed in room 5 and managed to get good wifi service. Shower was pitiful one of these instant hot water ones and flow very bad with bad temp control. My wife decided not to fight it after my experience.

Close to some beautiful walksPosted May 9, 2012 on Hotels.com
lovely surroundings, very convenient for Cader Idris, lots of walks and the coast, oh and the narrow guage railway. Food was really very good and plentiful. The downside was that, although it is on the main road and therefore very easy to find DO NOT follow a satnav or an internet road map as they will take you to the middle of the lake!

Staff was nice but was more of a bed and breakfastPosted Nov 10, 2011 on Hotels.com
The heat was turned off when we got back and had to be turned on..and we had to take cold showers. Breakfast was odd as everyone was scared to talk as it was very quiet. If you are looking for a B&B this may be a good choice, but it is not a hotel per se.

Great old inn; gorgeous locationPosted May 30, 2011 on Hotels.com
Staggeringly beautiful location, on a great motorcycle road and close to Cadr Idris. Friendly staff. Four-hundred-year-old building, in good repair, with comfortable clean rooms. Good food and ales. Well worth a visit.
