It's recommended not to limit yourself to the attractions of Ullal because the surrounding region is laced with a treasure-trove of captivating natural and man-made attractions. Mangalore, lies approximately 7 miles (11 kilometers) to the south. Head there to check out the Manjunatha Temple and Mangala Stadium.
Head to Karnataka's craft workshops and history museums. These are excellent spots to hang out, particularly on overcast or inclement days. Every destination has its own special history and the Karnataka area has plenty of its own stories to tell. The ruins in these parts are well worth visiting.
One of the nicest ways to enjoy the great outdoors in the area around Ullal is to sign up for a rock climbing or hiking adventure. If you're are lucky to have good weather during your stay, get out and enjoy the water activities. Swimming and canoeing are just two ways the locals like to cool off here.
Enjoy the Karnataka cuisine by exploring the region's restaurants and cafés. Among the many ingredients commonly used here are coconut and mutton. Bisi bele bath (rice with vegetables) and saaru (tamarind and tomato soup) are two meals for you to try. To complete your Karnataka experience, be sure to order haalubaayi (rice and coconut fudge).
The most convenient major airport, Mangalore International Airport, is located in Mangalore, 10 miles (16 kilometers) to the north of Ullal, which is handy to remember when planning your holiday.
