We booked three nights in late October. It was 40F / 5C outside and same inside! The first night was horrible, it was cold like in a fridge! We could not take a shower in this cold. Asked them to fix it but they did not. Checked out after first night and booked another hotel with heated rooms. The hotel refused to refund two nights even though they did not provide the service we paid for. The room was outdated, too. Stay away from this place, there are plenty of nice hotels there for better price with breakfast, sauna, pool and other amenities and heated rooms!

Dear guests,We regret that you are so upset and unrealistic about your short stay in our hotel. To answer your accusations, we can say that the room temperature in the rooms is 20 degrees and not 5 degrees like in the refrigerator.After you spoke to us about it at reception late in the morning, we explained to you that because the outside temperatures were still warm during the day, the heating could not be turned on completely hot, but we would of course take care of it. Unfortunately, you didn't give us this chance because you came back to reception in the afternoon that day and told us that you had booked another hotel and were leaving now.It is a great pity that you are now making such a bad impression on our hotel in all respects because of this fact.

The location was just perfect with easy access to wonderful walking trails and the train station. Our 3rd floor room was extremely spacious and comfortable.

Location great but extremely rude staff.
The owner & some of the staff were extremely rude. Their booking system is automated & we therefore didn’t have the twin room we had asked for but a double. I’ve never quite been spoken to so impolitely and made to feel so small as when asking to change rooms. We were actually moved the next day but the hurt had been done. The decor is very worn and beds uncomfortable with terrible half empty pillows!!!

Hotel Schatten was a charming hotel. Our room felt spacious and comfortable and had a nice deck overlooking the mountains. The location is on a quiet street just off of the beautiful Ludwigstraße, making for a peaceful location that still feels close to tourist spots. The breakfast was absolutely delicious as well.

Great time in GAPA
We had an excellent stay. Check in was easy and fast and the staff were fantastic. Close to castles and the Zugspiete, both of which I recommend. We had a Jr Suite and it was huge with a balcony overlooking the mountains and ski slopes. I highly recommend the Hotel Schatten!!

Very cute traditional Bavarian hotel. The room was spacious and comfortable and there was a beautiful view of the mountains from our bathroom. The location is great as it is close to the older streets of the town with cute shops and restaurants. We were a bit sad that the restaurant and biergarten at the hotel were closed while we were there

Beautiful town. So quaint and charming. Easy walk to shops and restaurants. The hotel staff was so friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend. Loved our room overlooking the Main Street where we could view the cows making their way home! What a sight that was!

Charming place in the old town
Very charming comfortable property in the lovely old town section of Partenkirchen. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room had a nice covered patio, which was very welcome when the thunderstorms moved in. I appreciated that we received free bus passes so that we could just leave the car parked and not contribute to the resort town congestion. The only negative was that the WiFi was extremely poor, to the point of being almost unusable.

Not the best, but would stay again.
Our room was very large and clean, however the hotel is outdated. The website lists free parking as an amenity, but there are very limited spaces which were full when we arrived, so we had to find street parking (or we could have paid extra to park in the garage). The staff was friendly overall, but not the most helpful. Great location, easy walking distance to the main attractions & restaurants in town.

Travelocity confirmed my stay, but when I arrived there was no available room. Benedict at the front desk apologized, and called another hotel in the area to secure me a room. This was clearly more than he needed to do, and I really appreciated it. The hotel was very busy, and looked "as advertised"

Nice room at a reasonable price.
Staff is excellent and helpful. Great location with a clean and warm (by German standards) room. We had a room with a "balcony" but the balcony was more like a terrace or a patio. Price was reasonable and breakfast was excellent.

We have now stayed here multiple times. The staff is helpful and friendly. The restaurant is excellent. The view of the mountains or the sight of cows coming down the middle of the street is great. I look forward to returning.

Everything about the Hotel Schatten was perfect. The room, gracious staff, and the Bavarian character of the surrounding neighborhood were simply wonderful! Highly recommended! The hotel has parking but there was no problem parking on the street nearby, at least in early December.

Easy walk over to Garmisch, the restaurant is very good. Check-in was easy with friendly staff. Roomy bathroom, beds comfortable all very clean. Great section of town, more like a village, just steps away from town center.

Our stay was average, we had to pay extra for a baby cot to be bought to our room also. Water in the room was chargeable at €3 for one bottle!! The minibar was 4 small chargeable drinks in a mini fridge and there was no kettle. Also it looks nothing in the photos The restaurant had excellent food which was reasonably priced.

This hotel met all our needs. Comfortable, clean, and well-equipped with helpful staff and great breakfast. Large room by European standards with modern bathroom and plenty of closet space. Not air-conditioned, but that likely isn't an issue at most times of the year. Dinner in the restaurant was good and reasonably priced. Front desk staff were great with recommendations and information. Would definitely recommend to family and friends, and would stay here again.

The room we had was spacious and offered nice views. The breakfast was typical German fare and it was excellent. The staff all spoke good English which was a plus. And, I can't say enough about how nice and friendly the staff was at the hotel. The hotel's location was a short walk away from quite a few things to do and places to eat. Parking was free on the street in front of the hotel. The dinner we had there was one of the best we had in Germany. The only negatives were the bed was a little too hard for my taste and the problems with constantly having to log into the wireless service. Minor annoyances that might not affect other people. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for anyone from single travelers to families. The family that runs the hotel are super friendly and I would stay there again anytime.

Room With A View
Garmisch and especially this hotel, was the best experience of our vacation in Bavaria. The restaurant has great food and the continental breakfast buffet in the morning was very good. The hotel is right in town. Parking is on the street or in a parking garage under the hotel so there is no parking problem. We parked on the street. Staff was very friendly and there are enough English speakers so language is never a problem. The room was very clean and comfortable.
