“It's worth the extra cost for the alpine view”

Hotel Sonnenbichl was an unexpectedly wonderful find in Garmisch. The hotel staff was extremely helpful in orienting ourselves to the local areas of interest as well as showing us an extraordinary level of personal care in assuring we were well taken care of. The complimentary breakfast was outstanding and the beds were some of the most comfortable we have ever slept in. The view of the alps and Zugspitze were definately worth the extra $, and the ambiance of the cow bells just added to the experience.

“Historic hotel”

This hotel was built in the 1800's although has gone through many changes including a military hospital during the war. It has been renovated and kept up. The pool area is very nice. There is an elevator although it is not modern one and I found taking the stairs much easier. The room was very large and the hotel staff friendly and spoke english well.

“We'll Stay There Again”

The Hotel was a obviously an older hotel, but kept up quite nicely. The staff was very freindly and helpful. Electrical adapters were available for US and British electrical appliances. We rented a car in Munich, so it was nice to have the hotel a little out of town and avoid all the traffic, unless you were specifically going to Garmisch. Easy access to the Autobahn to Munich or to Garmisch. About 5 minute drive to Garmisch and about 45 minutes to Munich. Balconies were nice for mountain gazing and cattle watching. Quiet neighborhood. We will definitely stay there again.

“Spectacular view of Bavarian Alps, Small Ski Town”

I have probably been to 20 cities in Europe (big and small) Garmisch-Partenkirchen ranks as one of the best, and this hotel is willing to provide whatever you want to make your stay enjoyable, the food is great, 3 restaurants, great bar and bartender, snack bar serves a filet for god sakes! nice pool, nice deck, great bathrooms in the rooms, expedia should upgrade from 3 1/2 stars to 4!! 10 euro cab ride from train station....

“The room was very nice, the staff very helpful, and the food was outstanding.”

This hotel is a little ways from the Garmisch center but is well worth the drive. It has old world charm and a very accommodating staff. Our last night the chef prepared a special meal just for us. Views of the mountains are nice. Choose a room that is not on the back or the road side.

“What a View”

This hotel was so charming with a wonderful view of the Alps from the porch. Service was excellent, rooms a slight dated, but charming. Still would recommend it highly due to the service.

“Wonderful hotel”

This was by far the best hotel during our vacation in Germany. We were treated wonderfully by all of the staff. The breakfast included in the price was out of this world. Great view of the mountains from our room. The restaurant was also excellent with a nice wine list. We will absolutely stay at this hotel again.
