"Great experience on our anniversary"
Loved staying on the upper west side close to central park. We chose the Lucerne because of it's unique interior style and exceptional attention to detail. The room was perfect with high end furnishings, great amenities and a large bathroom that was clean and up to date.

"Nothing Beats The Empire"
I think it's been more than a half dozen times now that I've stayed at the Empire, dating back to the early '90s when it was a spotless budget hotel. Now, it's chic and as I understand it, going through upgrades to make it even better. One elevator was out while we stayed and we still had speedy service to our 5th floor room. Speaking of, what a lovely view of the park out front and Lincoln Center to the left. The King rooms may have the most decadent beds, but the double rooms have great views. There's always something to rave about. As usual, everything was spotless, the service was flawless and drinks in the lobby bar are a generous pour.

Pocket Guide: Upper West Side, New York Romantic Hotels

Some bemoan that the Upper West Side has become a version of the Upper East Side. Case in point: Columbus Circle’s Time Warner Center, one of New York’s priciest real estate. The Upper West Side includes the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the American Museum of Natural History, and Columbia University. Harlem, the legendary African American neighborhood, lies north and caps Manhattan.
