The place smell like sewage, totally disgusting. They need to close the place down and remodel it is a shame they let it go down like that. It used to be a beautiful building. They can’t appreciate beautiful architecture is really sad.

A real joy to go back almost a hundred years with this classic hotel. Comfortable room. If only a Hotelier could put a few million into renovating the exterior….

Could be an amazing place with large investment
It is an amazing place, classic building and large premises with beautiful gardens and an excellent location in front of the sea. But they have not invested in years in rooms and maintenance and it shows. Kudos for the people working there, they do their best but the place needs a lot of money to be up to speed. Breakfast could offer some healthy choices.

This is a beautiful hotel that it’s like a step back into Hotel California ( like the song). It was the grand dame of its day about 100 years ago. The lack of upkeep is a detriment and we know it must be very expensive to keep up a hotel this large. The staff and pool are very nice. if the past lives in you it will be a great place to visit and you will thoroughly enjoy it. If you need more modern conveniences this is not the place for you.

Great hotel, even if it has seen better days. Only steps from the beach. Pool and grounds are gorgeous. Staff is polite and helpful, always available. Rooms are spacious and sparse, with lots of old world charm. Staying at the Argentino is like stepping back to a more gracious era. Hope its former glory is never destroyed by future renovations.

Amazing place! We were in Piriápolis for two nights prior. It was Valentine's Day. My girlfriend, being from Uruguay, had never stayed at the Argentino. Old facility. But with so much charm! It rained all day. No problem. We stayed at the resort. Went to the indoor salt water pool. She had a massage. We ate at the restaurant. Live entertainment. Then a few steps to the casino.

Period Authentic Night in Piriapolis
The Argentino is the old original hotel holiday destination from the 1930’s and is ideally located right in the center of the waterfront. Although aging and showing signs of some neglect of maintenance (such as chipping paint on the exterior window shutters reminiscent of old world European towns), it still maintains an aura of stateliness in its architecture and interior fixtures. The personnel were friendly and professional even though we spoke English in a Spanish speaking country. The downside was the lack of modern upgrades to make the stay comfortable. Our beds were old and simple thin mattresses without box springs and were not very comfortable. The sheets were clean but past their prime. The tv was small and the bathroom “period authentic”. There was a large number of local patrons present at night visiting the downstairs casino which carried its music and chatter up to the top floors well past midnight. This appeared to be the norm with patrons of all age groups occupying the lower floors well into the night. The morning breakfast was disappointing quality and limited in selection. If you are from a western nation then you might appreciate exposure to the local culture, but if you have young children I would recommend finding alternative lodging. We found more modern options on subsequent nights for the same price with more peaceful environs. Not a bad experience but be prepared for a Spartan stay.

This is a historic hotel, please keep this in mind. The charm of the hotel and area is fantastic. There is no air conditioning, there is a ceiling fan and the tall ceilings help. If you want a feeling of what was and what it could be it is worth the experience. If you want a room that you want to hang out in and not leave - this probably is not for you. Be open minded and take it all in and you will be happy.

Its worth
It's a classic hotel, very nice, built in 1930, has a high-ceiling, huge corridors, ancient-well-kept furnitures, complex swimming pool with warmed at two differents temperatures, therei is yet a trampoline on the 3,3m deep, at evening makes beautiful at sunset to take photos. I strongly recommend this hotel by your history, beauty and quality, but dont wait a contemporary architecture and high-end appliances. Enjoy my review!

This hotel is past it's prime by about 70 years.
The hotel could be very nice, but has a horrible decor and doesn't look like it's been properly maintained throughout the decades. Very bland appearance and poor amenities.

Lo mejor son las piscinas exterior y las termales. de agua de mar filtrada; asi mismo el desayuno y cena son aceptables; el hotel esta con falta de mantenimiento en la fachada y las habitaciones, no tiene aire acondicionado ni TV pantalla plana....es como volver a 1985.

Pior não existe!
O hotel ser classificado como 4 estrelas é a pior piada que ja ouvi. O hotel nao é ruim, ele eh pessimo! Parece q foi feito em 1900 e nunca mais passou por reformas, tudo antigo e mal cuidado. Unico ponto positivo é a localizacao, pois fica em frente a orla, de resto uma lastima. Nao recomendo a ninguem, foi uma pessima experiencia.

O estado de conservação do hotel é péssimo, a água do chuveiro não esquenta, o colchão é fino e desagradável. Não tem ar condicionado, como a janela ficou aberta por conta do calor, fomos atacados por centenas de mosquitos durante as duas noites que infelizmente dormimos neste "hotel". Gosta de história, vá até lá apenas para percorrer seus corredores. Nunca cometa o erro que cometi de se hospedar neste local. Outra informação importante, é muito longe de qualquer ponto de interesse e a praia não tem nenhuma atração que valha a pena. Sou um viajante experiênte e nunca tive uma estadia tão ruim como essa.

Mi experiencia no fue buena. Estadia familiar en la que se explicó por mail que nunca respondieron en dos oportunidades en la direccion de correo que figura en la web y en todos lo sitios relacionados con el Hotel, de contar con accesibilidad para persona mayor ya que mi estadía era con mi mama de 78 años, y mi esposo. Mi mama es autoválida, pero es mayor por lo que explique muchas veces que necesitaba accesibilidad para persona mayor. La habicación cuando llegamos me dieron una que tenía una bañera que tenía una altura que una persona normal de mi edad 52 años y de una altura de 1.56 no podía acceder, muy incómoda, mucho menos una persona mayor, la llave que nos dieron para abrir la habitación, abría dos habitaciones. Luego nos cambiaron para otra que tenía una cama sola. Luego nos dieron un numero de habitación nuevamente para cambiar, que el numero no coincidía con la llave. Llegando a la última que nos proporcionaron, muy linda, antigua como todo el hotel, maravillosa vista, dos baños, con estalones altos y peligrosos para una persona mayor, uno de los baños con bañera igual a la definida anteriormente y el otro con ducha, con escalones de acceso. La salida al balcon también con escalones un poco peligrosos. Mi mama se cayo y por suerte no hubo desgracia alguna gracias a Dios, pero tuvo fuertes contusiones el día 24/12/22. Decepcionante la atención y la no respuesta de mails. Por whatsapp me comentaron que iban a tener en cuenta todo pero no fue asi.

Não recomendo para hospedagem
Localização nota 10, recepção e restaurantes lindos, porem os quartos são degradados, camas velhas, pequenas, colchão péssimo, roupa de cama com manchas, rasgadas, aspecto sujo, cobertores são aqueles de antigamente que dão alergia na pele, duros e pequenos. Chuveiro horrivel, conforto do quarto zero, não condiz com o valor cobrado.

Lindo hotel
Hotel é majestoso e bucólico, inaugurado em 1930. Sua estrutura está carecendo de manutenção e renovação em todos setores, tanto nos quartos quanto nas areas comuns. É um predio muito bonito, espaçoso e confortável. Café da manhã continental simples servido na mesa, com poucos itens. Quarto com colchões, lençóis, toalhas e tv muito antigos.

La Reserva decía claramente que incluía desayuno continental y almuerzo. Se negaron a dar almuerzo porque la reserva se hizo a través de Expedia (“si es de agencia no incluímos almuerzo”) El baño de la habitación super mugriento, y eso que estamos en pico de covid en Uruguay!!! Limpieza es un tema obligatorio!!! El desayuno que incluyeron un pan rancio y un queso que sabía feo, como viejo. Todo horrible, lamentable que es un Hotel con tanta historia….!!! Tienen personal inepto y un desagradable trato al cliente.
