"Nice Hotel in the Old City"
There was plenty of activities and people during the day, but in the evening it was pretty quiet so you needed to venture away from the area for any evening activities.

"A good 4 star hotel"
It was great for the price for a 4 star hotel. Good value if you don't want to spend much and still want to be in a clean and well located hotel.

"Great, clean, modern hotel on the beach"
Clean, comfortable suites with kitchenettes. Great for families and for longer-term stays. Easy access to beach. A bit of a walk to town, about 2 kms. Indoor and outdoor pools are well maintained, as well as other facilities. Breakfast is not included for the suites because they include kitchens, which was a surprise to us. Overall we had a really enjoyable, comfortable stay.

Plaza Fuerte Hotel

Bartolome Mitre, 1361, Montevideo - Map
"Loved it."
I spent 2 nights at this hotel, and loved it. Diego at the front desk spoke English and was fantastic in offering ideas on things to do and see in MVD. He told me about Greeting Man .... many locals don't even know about this sculpture! The hotel even loaned me an adapter for my e-reader, no questions asked. The room was an unusual loft layout, but efficient. Plenty of heat too on those cold nights. The location of the hotel is in the Old City- within walking distance of everything. And many of the bus routes end at the Plaza nearby, so it's easy to get home. Breakfast was delicious (Illy coffee!) and robust. I give this place five out of 5, except for the night staff who didn't seem to care much about guests.

"Old hotel way to expensive for the service"
For the price charged I was expecting a nice hotel it was not the case. One of the two rooms we booked was dirty, old equipment, weird smell. I will not recommend this hotel at all or it needs to be half price and you will know what to expect. But at $200 per night, really really disappointed.
