As relatively inexpensive Vail hotels go, this one is first-rate. Clean, comfortable, with a pleasant staff.

pleasant hotel, perfect locationPosted Mar 22, 2015
Rooms are very comfortable and we enjoyed the breakfast in the morning. Location in the heart of Vail walking distance from the main ski lifts/gondola and close to shops and restaurants is perfect. Staff in the Hotel was ver helpful when needed.

Great location in classic hotelPosted Feb 17, 2015
Great location in the very heart of Vail Village - very easy walk to gondola, bars, restaurants, etc. The hotel is one of the originals, so it has an older, Alps-like feel. The rooms are comfortable, and bathrooms are clean and nice. Was reasonably priced for the great location.

Historic Property, With Room for GrowthPosted Jan 3, 2015 on Hotels.com
Excellent location in the heart of Vail Village and easy place to enjoy all Vail has to offer. The facility is starting to feel a bit dated though. The staff was quirky but friendly and helpful.

Great hotel with great locationPosted Dec 27, 2014
Pros: Style (German), location, quaintness, had multiple services in one building - bar, restaurant, ski rental, shops, etc.
Cons: update some of the furnishings and bathrooms
Location: Great location - shopping, dining, quick access to skiing, rental in same building, et.
Our family came for the Christmas holidays - had a great time and recommend highly - hotel and bar!

Location, location, location!Posted Dec 24, 2014
We loved this place and will be back next year. There were several bonuses': The location is in the center of the village so we just walked to the gondola. The ski shop in the hotel gave us a 40% discount on all rental gear. The continental breakfast was delicious and was included in our rate (not usually the case in Vail). I learned after i got there that Hotel parking was only $15 a day. One costly side expense to watch out for is the cost to shuttle your family from Denver international airport to Vail. The shuttle service is known as Colorado mountain express. That shuttle ended up costing a small fortune of $290 each way for a family of 4. I will rent a car next time and park it in the underground garage right in the gramshammer hotel. At only $15 a day, it will be much more affordable overall. Colorado mountain express told me that parking was $25-50 minimum a day to park, which was misleading.
