Great Hotel, Great Location, beware the parking

Posted Sep 18, 2014
Pros: Loved the room, the location, the bed, the way they expanded the hotel with the same old world charm & style.
Cons: nothing
Location: Ski/snowboard, eat, shop, snack/coffee, bars, biking, hiking, pretty much all that Vail has to offer is within walking distance except grocery/pharma
We booked our stay at the Gasthof at the last minute when we decided to stop at the Vail Oktoberfest on our way through town. We wanted to be right where the fest was and the hotel is smack in the middle of it. The room was beautiful, large and clean. Bed was super-comfy. The hotel staff was freindly & informative. The hotel is smack in the middle of Vail Village. It has a fantastic German restaurant downstairs (Pepi's) with the best Hungarian Gulash ever. Weinerschnitzel was also top notch. BEWARE SPECIAL EVENTS: (be careful what you wish for) As we drove to where the google maps told us to go we were met with a giant "DO NOT ENTER" road sign and a roadblock because the hotel is on a pedestian mall, and the fest was right in front. Called the hotel and the front desk told us he options were to have the event staff shepherd us through to the garage beneath the hotel, or park in the public garage accross the foot bridge. As the public garage was full...we did not think it possible, but with the help of security (think Tour de France) we wound thru the crowd to the hotel garage successfully. It was not a drive for the nervous. On non-event days it would be no problem and we got out the next morning without problem, but just beware of the potential!

Great location, right in the heart of Vail.

Pros: Location and friendly staff.
Cons: Rooms are a bit dated.
Location: The location is great. There are restaurants, great shops, fishing, hiking, gondola rides all within walking distance.
Gasthof Gramshammer is convenient to everything. Great shopping and restaurant right in the same building. We were afraid the location would be noisy, but found it quiet at bedtime. Our room was clean and comfortable, but a little tired. Tiny bathroom. We would stay there again anytime.

Jewel!

Posted Aug 11, 2014
Location: Heart of Vail Village
This jewel is right in the heart of Vail Village. It is so unique, like getting a taste of Europe. I have stayed at Gastof 2x and plan to return in the future for a longer stay. If you have kids, this is a great location for them to feel comfortable walking around and knowing exactly where the hotel is located in the village. LOVE THIS HOTEL!

Homey place right in the heart of Vail!

We have stayed at the Gramshammer at least 3 times on family bike trips to Vail. We love it: it's super comfortable, clean, and the location could not be better. The staff are friendly but stay out of your way unless you need something, the breakfast is great and the Riverside rooms are quiet, quiet, quiet. We were recently there during the GoPro games and even with loud music playing in the streets until all hours, our room was totally silent. The caveat here is that the Gramshammer is a European-style family-run place. If you're looking for glitz and a slick, spa-like atmosphere, don't stay here. But it's an awesome place for families and laid-back travelers.

The Gasthof Gramshammer is a wonderful experience. We chose this hotel for a variety of reason - location and quality. This is one of the original hotels in Vail, one of the oldest and definitely one of the finest.

Stuff is very helpful (we came in at 1am in the morning and all was setup as agreed - very easy). Great breakfast with excellent view to the main pedestrian street. Live music in the bar, upscale restaurant with great game dishes!

We go to Vail at least once a year. I have always wanted to stay at the gramshammer and it was always booked up. It is like going to Austria! The decor is fabulous. The rooms are clean and bedding is soft and beautiful. The beds were very very comfortable. The staff was very polite and it is one of the original hotels in Vail. The owners actually live there. I will go back again and again. I am a clean freak and usually we check into hotel rooms and we have to move because of nasty bathrooms. It was spotless.
