“Great location with great sevice.”
I booked this room through expedia at the last minute during opening weekend at Vail. All of the hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was clean, very comfortable, with a great bathroom with heated floors. Location is perfect right in Vail Village. I would definitely return.
“had an operation in vail”
good staff, good atmosphere, great location ....did not try food.....room was clean, but tv was too far from the beds.....lighting ok
“Sonnenalp is a family atmosphere hotel in a world class location.”
Best breakfast in Vail, loved our room with the fireplace and a mountain view. Hotel was quiet and relaxing and overall elegant. The staff was immediately helpful and friendly upon our drive up to valet. Best place to stay in Vail for us!
“Week end get away”
Wonderful stay! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They made several good recommendations for site seeing and dining.
“I found nothing negative to say about any of the services. Fantastic!!”
The staff goes out of their way for you. I haven't been treated this well for a long time. Not that other hotels weren't great but this place is exceptional.
“Great week-end”
We planned a "shoulder" season week-end at Vail - between summer and the ski season - to hike and relax. The weather turned bad but the hotel was Great! Old world charm with modern amenities and service. We've traveled to Europe and stayed in many luxury hotels and this was one was as good as advertised. The bathroom was luxurious, the bedding pure "down" heaven. The staff was friendly, helpful and attentive without being obsequious. When we arrived, the lovely fireplace in our room didn't click on; the maintenance guy was there in 5 minutes to corrrect the problem. Would definitately recommend and go back.
“Wonderful Resort!”
The location of this resort is excellent. You can walk to Vail Village - or take a free shuttle to the other villages in Vail. The hotel is very beautiful. The suites are spacious and perfectly maintained. Hotel restaurants are wonderful - loved the breakfast the most. Only thing we were not so happy about was the $22.00/day parking fee - but I understand that is pretty typical in Vail. Definitely would stay here again. (this was our second visit).
“Old World Charm with Some Drawbacks”
Sonnenalp is a well-regarded hotel with good dining, spa and common area facilities, such as a library. The rooms are pleasant and spacious; however, some improvements could be made, such as a fan in the bathroom, and a shower that is more easily entered (very high walls, very deep tub with not even a bar to hold steady - i can't imagine an elderly person being able to get in and out of the shower). The hallways are dark and stuffy. The decor is confusing - is it Bavarian or is it cowboy? I would rather the decorator stick with Bavarian and remove the repetitious cowboy pictures. Service is excellent - room service is of good quality. The hotel is well-situated in the center of Vail. I feel like this is a high quality hotel that could use a once-over on some fronts.
“Perfection”
I've stayed at many 5 star hotels around the world and each seemed to deficient in one way or another. That is not true of the Sonnenalp. The property is beautiful, the rooms spacious, and the town of Vail is just about perfection, but what sets the Sonnenalp apart from others is the level of customer service that is provided by every staff member. I would like to highlight the service of Heinz in Ludwig's. He has set the bar for every waiter we'll have in the future and I will say I don't see anyone exceeding his intuitive, excellent service or his passion for his job. A pleasure to experience! I highly recommend staying at this property for just about any reason, but ours was a short family vacation after a very rustic fishing trip. Our 5 year old son enjoyed the pool and the cookies at turn down each evening.
“Sonnenalp in Summer is divine - Vail's Best Hotel”
Sonnenalp is perfectly situated. The staff are extremely kind. Victor Rossi is the best Concierge in the valley.Rooms are xtra large and nicely appointed.
