Breathless views, like a retreat in the Alps!

Posted Feb 18, 2014
Pros: Everthing.
Cons: More shuttles, a gluten-free menu for children, for example Applegate chicken nuggets, which are also dairy, egg, and nut-free.
Location: Cordillera is about 15 minutes from Beaver creek, 30 in traffic from Vail, and 5 minutes from the mountain town Edwards, with a nature museum!
Our stay at Cordillera was excellent. We love skiing the nearby resorts, but especially as city dwellers, we crave a quiet place at the end of the day. Cordillera is about 15 minutes from Beaver creek, 30 in traffic from Vail, and is perched high on a mountain with simply breathless views of the entire mountain range, complete with birds, and small mammal citings! The conditions, staff friendliness and helpfulness were unparalleled, as they even cooked our picky gluten-free child's pasta in their elite restaurant for us. The rooms are large and beautiful - we booked 2 for a family of 5 but actually spent most of our time in just one! Can't wait to return.

We can’t wait for your return as well! We’re glad you were able to enjoy our peaceful, scenic atmosphere. Gluten-free has become a way of life for many people and we understand the importance of offering these items. We will look into a better offering of gluten-free products for our younger guests, and we are thrilled that our chefs were able to accommodate your child’s needs. Thank you for a fantastic review of The Lodge & Spa at Cordillera.

The overall experience was great. The staff was amazing and the location incredible. Some of the facilities were not available/under repair but overall a really good trip!

Great retreat

Posted Feb 3, 2014 on Hotels.com
I would highly recommend this property if you want to truly get away in luxury. Great rooms, beautiful location, and an "aah" type of experience. Unfortunately a winter storm crippled the property during our stay, causing them to be grossly understaffed. I do not believe this is normal for this 5-star resort. But the lack of staff limited our experience (valet, restaurants, shuttles, etc. were all on limited operations, and no room service was available due to restaurant limitations.) Again, likely not a consistent problem here. I'd go back to try it again in the future.

Nice hotel not too far from Beaver Creek

Posted Feb 2, 2014
Pros: Restaurant on-site, comfortable feel of the hotel
Cons: Door between rooms did not lock and the bathroom door locks were broken.
Location: Skiing at Beaver Creek or Vail a little further down the road. Kids went sledding on property.
The hotel was nice and quaint, with a really nice restaurant with a nice little bar. The food was excellent and rooms were comfortable. If you are looking for a quiet, nice hotel to stay at, rather than the normal resort craziness I would recommend this hotel.

Short Winter Getaway

Posted Jan 21, 2014
Pros: See above.
Cons: Main downside of the lodge is its location (Edwards, CO), which means you need to drive 10-15 minutes to do anything that's not "on property".
Location: Skiing Vail or Beaver Creek. Complimentary shuttle to both and if you ski at Beaver Creek, use of the Cordillera Club at Beaver Creek is wonderful.
Spent two nights at the Lodge & Spa at Cordillera just prior to meeting up with some friends down at Copper Mountain for a long-weekend ski trip. Our overall experience was great. The lodge itself is very nice; not the most "posh" place we've stayed at in the area (i.e. not the Four Seasons in Vail or the Ritz at Bachelor Gulch), but defnitely one of the better ones.. The highlights of our stay included: 1) nice/comfortable room (Cordillera Suite) with two balconies that each featured views of the mountains and valley; 2) complimentary shuttle ride to Beaver Creek resort and access to the The Cordillera Beaver Creek Club, which provides a place to store ski-gear directly adjacent to the Straberry Park lift at Beaver Creek (wonderful amenity) and refreshments (soda, coffee, tea) and light appetizers (chips and salsa, soup) 3) wonderful dining experience at Mirador, one of the restauarants on site; and 4) all staff members we encountered were friendly, and two in particular (our server at Mirador and the concierge at The Cordillera Beaver Creek Club) were absolutely great. 5) ambiance of the property itself; probably due to the time of year of our stay, the lodge was not crowded at all and we certainly enjoyed the peace and quiet.

It seems that you truly enjoyed your experience at The Lodge & Spa at Cordillera, which is exactly what we hope for guests, whether they’re with us for a two-night stay or a week-long ski vacation. You got to see and do a great deal while you were here and we loved reading about your positive experiences at Mirador, our private mountain club at the base of the Beaver Creek Ski Resort and more. While we are tucked away a few miles off the beaten path, there is never a shortage of resort events and amenities to enjoy. There is also our complimentary shuttle service to Vail and Beaver Creek Ski Resorts, as you mentioned. Thank you for your feedback, we hope to welcome you back next time your travels bring you to the Vail Valley.

Beautiful resort, amazing views!

Posted Jan 13, 2014
I've been going to Cordillera since I was a child. It used to be "the" place to go. It's still very nice and the rooms are very comfortable with incredible views of enormous mountains and valleys. The carpets could stand to be replaced and some of the furniture is very scratched up and obviously older, but it's still very tasteful and beautiful. The staff is incredible and really goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and pampered. The most disappointing thing for me was the pool. It's a large indoor pool surrounded by glass overlooking the outside pool and hot tub. They used to have beautiful exotic plants surrounding the pool, hanging from the ceiling and the entire area was one of the highlights of the resort. Now it's just a pool surrounded by nothing - very plain and uneventful. That was kind of sad but overall, it's still a great place to go. The bathrooms have obviously been remodeled beautifully, which was very nice. Great restaurant in the resort or be sure to hit the authentic Irish pub, which is part of the resort, across the street!! Beautiful atmosphere (actually built in Ireland) and excellent food. I would definitely recommend it and look forward to going there again in the summer. For winter, very close to Vail and Beaver Creek - perfect for a skiing weekend!

It is always wonderful to hear from a returning guest who frequented our property for years. We’re delighted you continue to experience the same, relaxing accommodations, beautiful views and attentive service you have come to expect from The Lodge & Spa at Cordillera over the years. We appreciate your warm acknowledgment of our on-site dining at both Mirador and Grouse on the Green as well as recreational amenities. We do regret, however, if the decor at our indoor pool is not to your liking, but are grateful to learn it did not detract from your experience overall. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, we cannot wait for the next opportunity we have to welcome you back to our resort.

A brief nice stay

Posted Jan 12, 2014
We used Cordillera as an airport hotel, en route home, arriving after lunch and leaving before breakfast. The deluxe room was spartan but boasted all needed creature comforts, and the view from our snowy terrace was breathtaking. The indoor pool and spa were great. Dinner was delicious. A few criticisms. There was no guide button on the tv so we couldn't figure out what was on and though the hotel book said the tv had HBO, it wasn't there. And room service, while swift and polite, neglected to bring us bread. Small things, but we noticed. He incredibly helpful staff more than made up for those small lapses.

Thank you for taking the time to share details of your recent overnight visit to The Lodge & Spa at Cordillera. We are delighted that the service our staff delivered was a highlight of your visit and an aspect of the experience that truly stood out. Your mention of the creature comforts and modern amenities of our guest rooms are greatly appreciated, however, we do regret any difficulties with your TV. We will have our staff look into this further and hope it did not detract from your overall stay. It is our hope that you’ll return again for another stay soon.
