My family has owned timeshares at The Wren since the early 80s. The timeshare units that we have stayed in over the years, in general, are kept up and nice. That's not the case for room 201 (a 100% privately owned unit by one individual). That unit doesn't look like it has been updated since the 1970s. Red carpet, a bed that feels like you are sleeping on a box, generally very dirty, plumbing that doesn't always work, mantel falling off the wall, creepy 1970s "eyeball" painting on the wall, etc. Just a very tired unit, right down to the vent that doesn't work in the master bathroom and the wall plugs in the bathrooms that are so worn out that whatever you plug in falls out. I feel very ripped off knowing that I paid over twice what my family did for staying a week in a unit.
When we asked The Wren to clean the unit the day after we arrived, we were told "you'll be charged the $100 cleaning fee." I told them that the unit was dirty when we arrived, so if there would be a fee, we needed to be moved to a different unit. They decided to clean the unit at no charge. We spent over $100 buying mattress toppers to try to make the mattress feel "normal".
The one good thing is this "modern" unit has VCRs, so be sure to bring your old VHS tapes to enjoy a bit of nostalgia.
If you decide to stay at The Wren, you should specifically request to not be placed in Unit 201.
