“Kids had a great time!”
We had a great stay, but I think our children had even more fun than we did. Between the pool and hot tub, kids movie night, basketball court, game room, and complementary s'mores and hot cider by the fireside, it was very hard to get them to leave the hotel. The staff, especially the valet members were extremely accommodating. The food at the restaurant was lovely, and the children ate free from their very own kid friendly buffet.
“Cozy and comfy”
Cozy and comfy hotel near all major lifts, needs a little renovation but overall very nice hotel. Service is good, not excellente, but does the job. Location is amazing at foot of the mountain and next to the creek.
“Opening Ski season”
We booked opening weekend for the 2011 ski season. The Cascade is definitely a ski out property (meaning you can catch a lift at the property and up to the mountain). I am not sure if you can ski in, I don’t think so. The lift was closed due to not enough snow, so that was a bust. Instead, we had to shuttle to the slopes. Not that big a deal, but where they dropped us off, we had to walk forever up and down several flights of stairs. If you have ever walked in ski boots, you know this is a major pain. The hotel restaurant was under construction our entire stay, which forced us to leave the hotel for food, the restaurant did open our last day, but never saw it. Overall the hotel was a hotel, not what I would call a resort property. The staff was super nice and willing to engage conversation, provide guidance and make you feel welcomed. I had no issues with the room, but my kids 12 and 15, did not like the beds (we had 2 queen beds). You have probably seen comments that the hotel was like a maze. I would totally agree with those comments. Our room was at the other end of the entry and took several turns and minutes to get to the main lobby. We booked a package deal through Expedia, so I can’t comment on the value we received for our lodging dollar. My expectations were a little higher for the Cascades. Their pictures look good on the website, but not as good in person.
“Vail's best resort!”
LOVE this hotel!! Amazing location, beautiful surrounding, nicest staff!! What impressed me most was at check out, I was leaving at 3am and the front desk attendant checked on the road conditions for me.
“Nice resort”
The rate that was quoted was for Colorado residents. But I saw some lower rates after I paid for it. The "Colorado rate" was misleading because it was not really the lowest rate.
“Vail Hiking”
Great place to base out of for hikes and exploring the Vail valley. Super fitness center. Not in village for activities but van goes every 10 minutes so not a big deal. Nice to have bike and ski rental right on site. My 6th stay and always great.
“One night stay”
Stayed only one night for an anniversary trip. We were able to check in early and found that the public parking garage was free during the summer. We mentioned that when checking in and they waived the parking fee for the resort parking garage. We enjoyed walking the trail behind the resort next to the river. Relaxed in the main hot tub and pool the location is beautiful it backs up to the river. Not much around the hotel & ended up spending the evening at Beaver Creek Village. There is shopping, restaurants and a fun mini-golf course. We spent more time there than our hotel. Highly recommend visiting Betty Ford’s garden in Vail. Disappointed that the hotels spa was not easily accessible from the main hotel. It was Nice to have a mini-fridge in the room but no microwave which would be convenient. There is a resort fee charged upon check out. So take advantage of what they charge you for such as the pool, spa and coffee in the room.
“5 star!”
Best Hotel experience we've had in years!
“The Best Vail Ski in/Ski out hotel”
The location is the best for skiing. the ski concierge was great! We have stayed in this hotel before in a deluxe room which was fabulous. However, this time we stayed in the standard room and would not recommend it. The room smelled musty even after we opened the windows. The furnishing was decent but nothing more than a super 8/holiday inn would be.. The bathroom was nice. The hotel staff was wonderful. The concierge was very good and excellent recommendations for restuarants. La Tour was one of the best meals I have ever had!! The fireside bar is fun, loud and has decent appetizers and drinks and a fun day of skiing. Breakfast was very pricey. Dinner was very good and the waitstaff was excellent at the Atwater.
“Judy's Ski Trip”
Be sure and go over to Beavercreek to ski. It's less crowed and a great experience! You can get there by shuttle to the transportation center and then change buses to the Turtle Bus. Ti Amo is a wonderful restaurant. We would definately go back.
