The room was clean and tidy. This would have been a lovely stay however at midnight a drunk man was beating on the doors and screaming. I had to call the police. The problem with the rooms are that there is no door or entrance which safeguards the rooms. Anyone can walk up the stairs and did in this case.

Beautiful, quaint, historic property, right on the main street in zurich. You can't beat it for charm and location. Clean, tidy. On the small side, but for the price i think it was great! It can be a bit noisy if your room is in the front and on a lower floor, but nothing a pair of Earplugs won't solve!

This is a lovely quaint hotel and we liked the room. However we had to check ourselves in and were disappointed with staff insisting on immediate cash payment when we went down for breakfast. The room was prepared for the next guests while we were at breakfast, including personal items being moved. This is not appropriate

Difficult to locate, you can see the sign in the street, but difficult to locate in the alley. No elevator, we were given rooms in the 4th floor, could you imagine carrying 3 big luggages and 2 carry-ons back and forth from the ground floor to the 4th in a very narrow wooden staircase? Never again will I book in this hotel. Shower holder is broken. Rooms are not soundproof, you can hear your neighbors. Not recommended.

The hotel is located in the middle of the main strasse in Zermatt, close to everything. The property is very old and currently under renovation (I think). The stairway is hard to climb and dangerous, often dark. The walls are bare drywall with exposed wiring. Our room on the fourth floor had a great view and a large shower, after that nothing good. The bed collapsed during the night, I fell through to the floor. The floors are on a slant and the bathroom has a small dangerous step to the toilet and shower from the sink. The on property staff is quite rude and showed no interest in the issues with the room. The housekeeper was pleasant and nice and did a good job. I checked out after the first night and found a new hotel. I have to say the owner, who is off property, did issue me a full refund and apologies. I am very grateful for his generosity. Perhaps the hotel will be better by next season. I hope so.

Our room is always kept clean. It's in the middle of the town, found in between the train station and matterhorn cable car. Very convenient location. The only cons is that there's no lift/elevator in the hotel.

Rundown Hotel
Rundown hotel. No elevator, bed slats constantly falling out, linens and bedding old. At time of booking we requested a lower floor but we were put on the top (fifth) floor. Noise all night from a nearby bar.

Thank you for your feeback. We inform our guests in advance that our hotel is in the center of Zermatt and has no elevator. We are sorry for that, but we can not change it. That's why we ask our guest in advanced whether they like a room with balcony or a room on the quieter backside and on what floor. Attention, we cannot always fulfill this wishes, especially if the wish only reaches us on the day of arrival. Thank you for the report regarding the bed frame. We will replace this immediately.

I woul like to comment about the room. It was very noisy, looks under construction, the staff are not that helpful, bathroom are very small, and they have early check out which we rushed packing our stuff. And also food in the breakfast are not that bad. The hotel are very dark and there’s no elevator. The good thing is in the downtown area which I like. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone especially for the elders.

Our guests can choose between a room with balcony or a room on the quieter backside of the building. Unfortunately we have no elevator and small rooms. If you like a room on the first floor, let us know. Check out time is 10.30 am. We have to clean the rooms for the following guest.

Location is convenient and close to all areas of interest. Bars and restaurants are connected an in the property. Let’s left with Italian restaurant staff, rude to say the least. In the center of the town. The hotel was under construction, the room was not even properly label (no number on the door). Plywood was left along the stairs to the rooms. No elevator so take note if you can’t climb. Some of the rooms are next to washing mashing so be aware. It was ok for a night and we had a view of the Matterhorn.

Unfortunately the feedback is correct. We had to make changes at short notice to ensure the safety of our guests. Since we are only tenants and not owners, we were not able to choose the date for the renovation.As mentioned several times, our hotel does not have a lift. We therefore ask you to reserve a room on the first floor if you have difficulty climbing the stairs. Our hotel is also located in the heart of Zermatt. We can offer you rooms with a balcony in front or without a balcony on the quieter back. Please let us know your wishes. Thanks.

This was an all around terrible experience. No front desk staff available during check in. The key was left hanging on a hook. Called to get another blanket and was told I could only have 3 per room, but we had 4 people sleeping in the room. If we wanted a blanket we would have to put in an email request 24 hours prior. We would have been checked out by that point. Needless to say we had to leave 2 people to stay in that room and the other two people paid for another room in a different hotel. The person who answered the phone kept saying no to everything and was extremely rude on the phone. Customer service was just nonexistent. The price was too high for a hotel that was a 1 star at best. The walls were paper thin and you could hear the cleaning staff yelling at guests. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs. I would have preferred to sleep with the cows than here ever again.

That sounds disastrous - I don't think it's that bad. In most hotels in Zermatt you will be greeted by a friendly receptionist. Our guests know that we have easy self-check-in. As correctly stated, you can contact our employee 24 hours a day using the phone in the entrance area. She tries to help wherever possible. After all the guests have arrived and there are no more questions, she leaves Zermatt and goes home. From this moment on she can no longer come to the hotel at short notice. Unfortunately, with a reservation for 3 people and a response at midnight that 4 people want to sleep, her hands are tied. It's quite possible that she didn't sound friendly when she was woken up, and we would like to apologize for that.

Great hotel, balcony over the street with lovely views. Unfortunately, it’s situated beside a very noisy couple of pubs which stay open late. We stayed on a Friday, so if you stay here, expect lots of noise if staying over a weekend even in the street long after pubs have closed. Ear plugs work wonders! 👍

Great location in main street, easy walk to train station. Close to everything in Zermatt. Hotel has a nice restaurant and a basic breakfast. We used the family room which was quite big and spacious with a bedroom queen bed, kitchen/dinette, a lounge with 2 beds and a large lounge, and bathroom with shower in bath tub. Downside you can't use kitchen unless you pay 100CHF extra on arrival per stay. Also no curtain in bathroom with looks into a garden restaurant (glass is frosted though) Overall a nice place to stay in Zermatt.

Value for Money in Zermatt
Friendly lady boss reception and housekeeping. Clean pillows and bed linens. Good water pressure with warm water for showing. WiFi working well. Hotel is a little old and dated and in need of some maintenance but otherwise we had a comfortable stay and it was value for money.

This hotel was super convenient for staying in Zermatt and makes it very easy to go skiing! The breakfast included was also very nice and the staff was kind. That said, the area is very loud at night (club/loud music) which made it quite difficult to sleep. It definitely helps you stay in Zermatt on a tighter budget, but would recommend investing in some strong earplugs.

This property is in a great location - close to the train station and in the shopping area. The windows and doors do not shut well. The bathroom door is a loose barn door - does not stay shut well. At night it is very noisy. I did not sleep more than a few hours. My husband used ear plugs. I cannot sleep on them. Breakfast is ok - not as good as other places in Switzerland.

It was just okay. The staff at the hotel wasn’t really friendly, and especially a lady who was taking care of customers at the breakfast made so much noise when she was cleaning the table even though we were still eating right next to her. The breakfast itself was good though, and the hotel is very close to the Zermatt station.

Our room was on the top floor with a view of the mountains, and it was both well-appointed and spotlessly clean. Check-in and check-out were straightforward. It's an interesting old building, but make sure you're all right with stairs!

Unfortunately, not a great stay
I don’t like to write bad reviews, but my stay here was rough. Not very clean, shower had a broken handle, Wi-Fi didn’t work in the room (at all), holes in the sheets, you could hear every creek from the adjacent room, cigarette smoke wafting in from the alley below. I get that this is a budget hotel, but if you value your comfort, I recommend looking elsewhere. The staff were nice, but that’s about the only thing good about this hotel (and it’s location (if you like noise)).
