“Impressed”
Good service, helpful and friendly
“Courtyard room.....Not again!”
Bright Lights streaming into our windows. We had room #115...right next to alley. TV sound control didn't work...could barely hear the audio but the background sounds were loud and clear. Noisy neighbors upstairs and beside us. We hardly slept at all. I will not go back.
“Good position”
Hotel is well positioned to walk downtown. Surroundings are loud at night.
“Brutal Service”
Room was apparenty renovated but new carpets and point don't count as renovation to me. The bathroom needed remodelling in a very bad way, the layout of the room was inconvenient. The area is not the greatest, but was convenient for a concert we were attending at the Commodore. However we were awoken many times by screaming and fighting outside on Granville street right ot 5:30 AM. The worst part was the service from the front desk. I have never experienced such rude behavior. Check in was slow, and the staff were rude. Later, we called down to get a phone number for a restaurant as there was not a phone book in the room. We were told "Uh, I don't have time to be looking up phone numbers, it's called 411, try that" and then he hung up. I would not return !
“Great location”
We stayed two nights and were in the "courtyard" which was actually a separate building across the back alley. We stayed in a tiny room (not a huge problem for just the two of us) but it was definitely in need of some updates. I would not have felt safe walking across the alley alone at night, so if I were to go back I would stay in the main tower. The location was great and we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go.
“Average with convenient location and great view!”
Reasonable price. Stay in main tower! The staff ranged from friendly and helpful to nearly rude. The King size rooms were nice, but queen left something to be desired (cramped). Beautiful view out back of hotel. Nice lobby. Could not get internet to work. Parking was cramped and got ticket even though pass was displayed. Convenient location; within walking distance of Yaletown, waterfront, convention center, restaurants, etc. Visit Dooles Irish pub down the road!! Overall, an average hotel, but relaxing stay. Might stay again depending on reason for trip.
“Convenient & reasonably priced Vancouver hotel”
I had planned a trip to Vancouver with my 20 year old daughter and her best friend to celebrate my daughter's 20th birthday. We had planned this trip on a whim, so we couldn't spend a lot of money, yet we wanted to find a hotel in downtown Vancouver that was walking distance from places like Yaletown, etc so we wouldn't need a rental car or cabs to get around. After much research and calling, we were referred to the Best Western Chateau Granville and it turned out to meet our needs exactly. Definitely a "no frills" place, but for the price, service and location, this hotel gave us everything we needed and was clean and simple with very helpful and efficient people at the check in desk. There is also a restaurant/bar downstairs that had a great Salsa band playing on Thursday nights and apparently the locals frequent this place to take advantage of the music and we had a great time watching them Salsa dance the night away here. You should note that this hotel is located right on "the strip" (Granville where many clubs, tatoo shops, etc. are) so it is not the quietest area in downtown Vancouver, but If you want the nightlife and want to be near the clubs, etc., this is a reasonably priced hotel in downtown Vancouver that will fill your needs.
“Okay place to stay”
I stay here frequently because it's a convenient location to get around Granville and Yaletown. Plus, it's priced fairly reasonably. The room does look a bit dated compared with other hotels I've stayed at in the area but it's overall fairly clean (I only book in the Tower as recommended by other past travellers). The biggest problem I've had recently is that there's really poor reception with their wireless internet service. I'd probably still return - I'll just bring my own ethernet cable for the room internet connection.
“so-so”
There's really nothing "chateau" about this place but it was servicable. The staff was friendly enough, but the room could do with some updating, as could the hotel overall (fresh coat of paint, updated furniture, etc.). We stayed here because it offered a room that had 2 double beds with a sofa bed, which allowed for 3 people to each have their own sleeping space... but the sofa bed was really quite horrible. Lumpy, crooked, sagging - it was better to fold it back up and just sleep on the sofa. The free internet connection came in handy and the overnight parking rate wasn't as expensive as some others. The location wasn't bad, but there was some construction going on outside (winter of 2009), which made entry in/out of the hotel a little annoying. Our stay was ok, but all things considered, I'd try somewhere else next time I'm in town.
“Stay in Hotel Tower......not the CourtYard”
I love Vancouver and I will stay at this Hotel again, But only in the Main or Hotel Tower. It is very convenient to shopping and the new rail train from the airport,my friends were only blocks away and my favorite restaurants were real close. If u book here, stay away from the court yard rooms,it is not attached to the main hotel and its very depressing with no view and dull. Definately have breakfast in the hotel restaurant,Front desk gave coupons and it was very good*****5stars
