Patricia Hotel

Posted Sep 17, 2014
Pros: Staff were kind, and the free breakfast.
Cons: Actual door for the bathroom would be great.
Location: As said earlier its in a rough part of town. Things to do however are abundant, being Vancouver.
It was a cheap hotel for a one night visit. Its located in a rough neighbourhood. But the insides are pleasant enough. The room was small, and the bathroom was literally behind closet doors. But the bed was comfy and the room seemed clean. It was a place to sleep and it came with a free breakfast so all in all, it was good.

Nice hotel, bad location

Posted Sep 14, 2014
Spent the weekend in this hotel. Its nice for what it was and it was cheap. The hotel is 100 some years old and they tried to keep it in the same historical condition so don't expect the rooms to be huge. We had a twin bed. The bathroom was recently added in the closet. Theres a pub attached to the hotel with good food and live music. Quite small but we didnt mind. I should also note that its on the worst street in Vancouver. East hastings is full of bums. We saw prostitutes in the parking lot. Also someone smoked crack behind our car. Though the homeless people are friendly for the most part. Anyway its not the type of hotel for a family I guess but its good for a couple who wants a cheap room.

Don't believe the picture you see on Expedia!

Posted Sep 2, 2014
Pros: Nothing...this hotel was by far the worse I've stayed in
Cons: The hotel itself needs changed
Location: This hotel is located on the east side of Vancouver where all the bums are at. Not so safe to walk around at night
This is the worst hotel I have stayed on. I've always trusted the pictures posted on Expedia by the Hotel management but this was not EVEN close to what it looked like in person. The room I have stayed in was small about 10 feet x 10 feet, and had no room to walk or store your luggage. The carpets were dirty, no internet connection, old 19" CRT tv and a fan. I felt like I was staying in a Motel 6 (probably worse). I called the front desk to complain and the response was "This is a Budget Inn, so you can't expect much from it" I was definitely furious and since it was already 10pm when I arrived to check-in, I had no other choice to stay for the night since everywhere else was booked. One word of advice to travelers would be: "If you feel comfortable staying at Motel 6, then this is the hotel for you"

Fantastic 3 star - bad area

The hotel and it's staff were amazing. The area around the hotel is used by the homeless, drug and alcohol addicts. Felt unsafe

Affordable and clean, if you don't mind grit

Posted Sep 1, 2014
The hotel is in the heart of Vancouver's Downtown Eastside (DTES), also known as Skid Road. Lots of homeless folks and addicts call this area home, but they won't bother you if you don't bother them. The hotel itself is clean, although run-down. Staff are helpful. It's a 10 minute walk to Pacific Central Station and Gastown, 30 minutes to the West End and Commercial Drive. Perfect for budget travelers who aren't afraid of urban grit.

Cheap hotel at cheap prices.

Posted Sep 1, 2014
Location: Short walk to Gastown and Chinatown. On major bus routes.
This is an old hotel with the cheapest rates in Vancouver. You get what you pay for. Having said I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The front desk staff are cheerful and helpful. My basic room was small but clean. The lobby is old school in a good way. Big and bright, lots of comfortable seating with newspapers and other reading material. The connected pub has good meals and beer (many locally made) at nice price. In the summer they offer free continental breakfast. The neighbourhood is poor, no doubt. You may run into some sketchy people but I did not find it dangerous or scary. Overall good value for money. A private room at a hostel cost more than a basic room here.

Good if you consider price vs. quality.

Posted Sep 1, 2014
Pros: It is clean, with breakfast included.
Cons: To improve the maintenance. The door of the entrance is in bad conditions and some other doors are damaged. To avoid carpets on the floors.
Location: Near to downtown. Easy to go to PNE Park.
The staff is polite and pleasant to help you. The area is horrible because the homeless, but these people are not dangerous.
