“Good place to stay while waiting for a cruise....”

Not a fancy motel, but a very nice one - nice people, and it was clean. Reasonably priced, and there is a Denny's with good food next door.

Area recommendations
Don't know anything about anywhere else in Vancouver - but this was a good place to stay overnight until the cruise left.

“Great location right near all the best things to do”

We enjoyed this hotel. Nice large clean room, helpful staff, nice pool, and great location. Wish the breakfast was better - not much choice on food to eat.

“I was not impressed”

The room had a terrible odor when first got there. Never went away completely. The continental breakfast was more a " hope this will do".They forgot to clean my room and left the door unlocked one day. One evening the hotel hosted a party and had no "none" parking for guest. Will I go back? NO, I will try the others across the street. Best experience was the Denny's next door. They gave us 20% off because we staid at the Grouse.

Area recommendations
The area and the city is wonderful. So much to see and do.

“A place to sleep”

I picked this hotel based on past reviews and location (it is near downtown but without a downtown price). If you are just looking for a place to sleep that is five minutes away from downtown, consider this hotel. The beds ARE firm. If you want even slightly more, look for something else. The hotel was slightly run-down, and the rooms were cramped (although you get a lot of furniture, including a King-sized bed, a refrigerator and microwave, a small table and chairs, dresser and TV packed into a small space). What you don't get is important: quiet (the walls are pretty thin and the air conditioner and bathroom fans are both very loud), cleanliness (we found two shirts in the closet); or comfort (inadequate water pressure for the shower and a substandard continental breakfast).

“not impressed”

Have visited this hotel before, it seemed rather worn out on this visit. The bathroom was not particularly clean. The continental breakfast is not worth getting out of bed for. The location is good.

“Close to Central Vancouver and inexpensive”

My family stayed here on our last night on a recent trip to BC. It's very close to the Vancouver Aquarium which was our ultimate final destination. It had very friendly service and was a very serviceable hotel not too far from downtown Vancouver. We'll definitely stay here again. The only downside is that there isn't much "good" food close by. Yes, there is an Earl's (think Ruth's Chris meets Buffalo Wild Wings, ramp up the noise factor and wrap all of the wait staff in tight black dresses) , a Denny's, a Dutch Pancake House, and a small Vietnamese place close buy, but those aren't real "travel meal experience" places. But, if all you need to do is sleep and sleep comfortably, then there's nothing wrong with the Grouse Inn.

“Decent hotel: you get what you pay for”

We've stayed in Vancouver often, but never on the north side of the inlet: this place was very simple, but the price made that perfectly fine. The room was simple and clean (though clearly the furnishings, etc., were aging), and there was ample parking (though access wasn't always easy -- the road is very busy). The continental breakfast was close to non-existent...cereal in styrofoam bowls and some toast and thin orange juice...but that's what I expect out of a continental breakfast in a motel. There's not much of a "neighborhood" to speak of, but access to Vancouver by car was simple. We would consider staying there again, but I don't think it would be our first choice -- plenty of other inexpensive options in Vancouver are placed in more interesting locations.

Area recommendations
Kitsilano -- Great little neighborhood with access to a beach and a fantastic Shakespeare festival all summer long. Food options are good (though more limited as you get closer to the water), and little passenger ferries in False Creek let you get around Vancouver on foot pretty cheaply and are lots of fun. We've been in several B&Bs in the neighborhood, and have enjoyed them all.

“Good value”

Hotel was a good value. Room was clean and did the job. The staff was friendly and the outdoor pool was clean. My main complaints were that the beds were uncomfortable and the wireless internet in the room was slow.

“Perfect Location”

We had a nice stay at the Grouse Inn. Pool was clean and warm. Rooms were nice for the price and the location was great. I had an awsome 1 hour walk over the bridge that went to down town and back. Continental breakfast wasn't much to brag about but it was free and you don't see that much these days. Oh and the wireless internet was also free and easy to use.

Area recommendations
North Vancouver. It was close to down town yet far enough away.
