“Excellent Location and Service”

We were very pleased with our five night stay in this hotel. The location was great, complimentary breakfast was great, their complimentary breakfast-to-go service was very useful, free water bottles in our room everyday and the the front desk staff was very helpful and provided lots of tips and suggestions. Excellent all around!

Granville Island - good for an afternoon or morning of fun Stanley Park - whole day's worth of activities Grouse mountain, several hours worth of things to do. See the lumberjack show! Go Whale Watching!

“As good as expected and more”

The Hotel was very clean, comfortable and very close to Yaletown and great restaurants. They even have a van that will transport you (gratis) to different places within the downtown area. Their continental breakfast was well stocked with everything from cereal to Belgian Waffles! One night, we walked across the street to a little Pub and were surprised to find that there was an EXCELLENT Irish Band playing that night. We would definetely stay at the Hampton Inn Downtown again as it's really a value for the area!

“Good Hotel for Family with Infant”

Good hotel for family with an infant. We brought our own bassinet and the microwave and fridge came in very handy for baby's feeding needs. The breakfast was great (make your own waffles!). We wanted to take advantage of the table tennis and other amenities on the top floor, but it was quite busy with other families. Location was within walking distance of downtown shopping and Gastown. Would stay here again.

“Great pre-cruise hotel in Vancouver, BC”

The Hampton Inn & Suites in Vancouver is a lovely place to stay if you travel to Vancouver before a cruise. We have done this for two different cruises and it worked great both times! Very friendly & helpful staff. Complimentary shuttle took us to the cruise ship. We also used the shuttle to get to Canada Place to take the Sea Bus to North Vancouver to go to Grouse Mountain & the Lynn suspension bridge. We used the transit system & it worked great with an all day pass for $9 for adults ($7 for seniors). The buses and the sea bus were all included in the pass.

“great shuttle driver”

Great front desk staff. Arranged shuttle driver for us and he gave us a tour of Stanley Park. Able to walk to most things from hotel. Very nice room and clean.

“Okay for first visit”

The hotel was o.k. The lobby was roomy. Breakfast was fair in terms of seldection, but I've had better. The rooms were very spacious and clean. The air conditioner worked fabulous. Our rooms had a view of the parking lot, but oh well. The location wasn't as close to Stanley Park as I thought, but the hotel does provide a free shuttle there, you just have to figure out how to get back. We were within walking distance to a sandwich shop and a pharmacy/convenience store. We were also within walking distance of the Vancouver art museum. I chose this hotel because of it's price and the suite set up. I was not disappointed.

When to go

We were there in late July. It was cloudy and overcast most of the day. This kind of weather is excellent to do a lot of walking and not worry about the heat.

Getting there

We took the train from Seattle, Washington. It was a very pleasant four hour train ride. Not as stressful as flying (going through security, making sure you aren't late for flight, etc). If you're not in a hurry, I highly recommend the train. You can see the coast as you travel, which is really pretty.

Getting around

If we couldn't get a free shuttle, we had to take two taxi's because there were six of us. I would look through the brochures and ask the concierge for the cheapeast way to get to Stanley Park and Capilano Bridge.

Must see

Stanley Park, the Vancouver Aquarium, and Capilano Bridge if you love nature and aren't afraid of heights.
