“Perfection”
I adored staying at la grande residence at the sutton plavce. It was in the perfect location, within walking distance of everything (yes even in heels) the hotel was beautiful and the room was much more beautiful than i expected, beautiful view from the balcony. the service was absolute perfection and i couldnt have asked for a better stay! I recomend this hotel to everyone!
“Awesome”
Lovely hotel. Second time we stayed there - great rooms - spacious and well equipped. Hotel service was great. The check-in staff went out of their way to ensure we understood the cost of valet parking... we were in a rush, but they were ready to offer alternatives, should we have opted for a cheaper option. The restaurant staff went out of their way to advise on portion sizes for our 9 and 6 year olds, based on personal experience. The adults had a 4 course menu in the restaurant which was very memorable, and in thanks to the kids' patience they were offered complimentary desert... and what a desert - trip to the chocolate foundation with fresh fruit dipped in chocolate. The location was excellent - right in the heart of Vancouver. I was up at 6am for the Vancouver to Whistler Gran Fondo bike ride. The rest of the family hit the hotel swimming pool and the shops, before driving up to Whistler.
“Everything perfect”
The suite was very comfortable, even the sofa-bed, and then kitchen fully equiped.
“Overpriced. DIRTY. But great location...”
Yes, you get some extra space due to a dining area and the convenience of a kitchen, but this hotel isn't worth the price we paid. The hotel itself is an outdated apartment building, connecting on the ground floor to the Sutton Place Hotel which looked lovely. The pool is tiny, but that was fine. What bothered us the most was the filthy room. Hair in the bathroom, on the counter top, floor and tub. Toothpaste smeared on the wall of the bathroom. Crumbs under the dining room table (don't you even vacuum between guests???) and stains on the sofa pillows. Sticky door handles and smears on the walls. It was pretty gross. Also very stingy with towels. We were 3 people and each day we received either only 1 or 2 sets of towels, so we had to call for more. Who leaves ONE set of towels in a suite? At that price I don't expect the Ritz, but please give me a clean room for my family's vacation. The biggest positive was the great neighborhood. Very safe, even at night, and walking distance to shopping, restaurants and downtown attractions. Great location. Filthy room.
“Will book there again.”
Very convenient.
“Good location, overall good hotel”
I spent 3 nights at this hotel. The room was alright; it was clean and nice. What I really liked about the hotel is the location...it's right in the middle of downtown Vancouver and very near shopping and eating places. The staff was friendly.
“Quick trip”
very convenient location - central to many of Vancouver's neighborhoods and parks.
“Not bowled over”
I got a suite at a discount for two nights. First impression: many of its patrons seem snooty and/or bratty. The lobby and other common areas are quite nice! The workout room is HUGE! Pool is nice. No free breakfast or internet, though. The suite, after having seen the lobby, etc, was not quite all that. It was decent and clean, but I was a bit let down. I thought it would be a lot nicer. And bigger. It wasn't terrible. It was sufficient. Noticed people stomping around upstairs the 2nd night. Really, hotels should truly invest in soundproofing. Seems like I always get a stomper upstairs!!! I mean, really! The NUMBER ONE reason I get a hotel room is so I have a place to......wait for it...... SLEEP!!!
“Overpriced”
I was extremely excited to stay at this hotel given it was 41/2 stars. While the outside shell was very nice, it was not comfortable. The bed is very hard and pillows are very stiff. Additionally I couldn't believe that you are charged per phone call. Given the quality and price of the hotel, I wouldn't imagine they would charge to make local calls in addition to parking. Glad I can say I went there but will not return.
“Convenient hotel with above-average rooms”
Hotel was clean and comfortable. The decor is a bit dated but in good condition. Best draw is the central location in downtown. For the value-price ratio, highly recommended.
