“Can not beat it !!”
I have booked this hotel through Expedia secret priced hotels, & the price was much cheaper than any other hotel I can found in Vancouver as there seems to be a big game in town on the day I was there. To my surprise I was upgraded to a suite room, which was huge and well maintained. The room it self felt more of a 4/5 stars hotel room. I am not sure if their normal rooms were as nice. The location was right of Granville street where all the action seems to be at night for that area if you are there for some night fun!! It was really worth the money. The internet was free for the rate I got. Parking was across the street in a covered parking for $14 per 24 hour which was not bad for that area of town. Actually a friend of mine visited me and was impressed with the room. Lol, he did not believe it was only a 3 start hotel. Enjoy, Erick
“Really nice experience”
The hotel was walking distance from everything we wanted to do during our stay. The room was a perfect size and had everything we needed. I'd read reviews that complained about it being noisy, but our room was absolutely quiet (I think perhaps a room over one of the restaurants might have been noisier -- so you might want to ask for a room NOT over the restaurant if evening noise would be a problem for you). The parking garage was convenient. The free wi-fi was fast and reliable. The staff was courteous and helpful. Great hotel in a great location!
“Best Bang for the Buck!!”
This is the best value for money spent. The staff were extremely helpful, informative, and pleasant. The location was perfect for walking to all the districts in downtown Vancouver. There are two great bars and a restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch and we never had a bad meal (croissants on the run and breakfast to-go). The Red Car Bar that is connected to Moda is fantastic!!! Great drinks and atmosphere. The architecture of the hotel is older, but has old San Francisco charm which made us feel right at home! When we travel to Vancouver again we will definitely stay here!!
“Cute but noisy”
The hotel itself was clean, friendly, and just what we needed for our weekend stay. Sadly, the affiliated bar and grill was directly under our room and a rugby game happenned to be ending around 3AM. I didn't get much sleep. Also, the area by day is fun, there is a lot to do. However at night there are some not so great areas. Travel with a friend and during the week and this is a great spot.
“dont pay too much”
It was ok for teh price, but not a 3.5 star hotel as advertised. maybe 2.5
“A two star hotel at best”
Moda is located in a 100 year old building. The rooms are small. Worst of all, tthe heating / airconditioner system in back of the building is so noisy that it made it very difficult to sleep. Also the in room airconditioner was very noisy. The hotel does not have its own parking garage. Located in the next block is the garage. We were charged $14.00 per night plus taxes for parking. There is no contential breakfast. I would not reccomend the hotel.
“smell is not good”
good location,small room,bad smell,noisy at night
“Great”
The service was great! We arrived four hours before check in and the hotel offered to hold our bags and get our room ready as soon as possible. We walked around Vancouver and got some lunch. Two hours later our room was available. They gave us some great suggestions for where to go and what to do. The hotel has free wi-fi and unlike many of the hotels in the area, they didn't charge extra for additional people. Other hotels allowed four adults per room, but would charge $20 extra for each person over two adults. The history of the building is kind of neat as well. It's an old building, but they've attempted to modernize it. It was clean and tidy. We had no issues with the hotel and were impressed with the personalized service.
“Pretty decent, but noisy”
Hotels is decent, but one has to realize that it is an old building very close to the nightlife area. It can get noisy in there. In general, though, it was not so bad as to be problematic. Staff was very helpful and accomodating, restaurant and bar quite good, if rather pricy. Location is very convenient to the entire downtown area and close the the Skytrain. Negatives: 1. Wi-Fi was very flaky. They say that they are working on it, but I had better luck catching Staples' connection from the store across the street. 2. Thermostat is a very advanced wireless job. SO it needed to be reset by the front desk before it started working. 3. The only available outlets (one in the room, and one in the bathroom) are controlled by main light switches. Make sure you are aware of it if you leave something to charge. Also, bring a powerstrip or ask the front desk for one...
“OK, not great”
Nice front desk staff, very helpful. Rooms exceptionally small, hardly any space to take out & leave belongings & put suitcases away. Spartan in feel.
