A weeks stay at Moda Hotel

Posted Jan 23, 2015
The location was a few blocks from the Vancouver City Centre station (the closest subway stop), and there were many restaurants nearby (including a McDonalds and Tim Hortons). It was also a block away from the famous Robson street (shopping) and Granville street (entertainment). Attached to the building is a Domino's pizza and a liquor store. The room included a flat screen TV with many channels, a coffee maker with cartridges for english breakfast tea and coffee, an iron and ironing board, a safe and a mini fridge. The room was also equipped with its own air conditioning/heating system which you could control. The staff were accommodating and helped me when I had issues with the WiFi. I should mention that the complimentary internet service (in my room) was poor. It didn't seem to work on the desk in the room - but worked when I had my laptop on the floor. The rooms are not soundproof - you can hear the pipes when your neighbors shower, or even when people are talking. As you'd expect tends to be worse on the weekends. The floor in my room was a bit creaky in certain spots which I'm sure would bother people in the room below me. Overall I enjoyed my stay at Moda Hotel and would recommend it to others.

Great location in the heart of the city

Posted Jan 21, 2015
Pros: The great staff and the great location
Cons: The linen's needed to be softer and nicer. The cube ottoman was very dirty and the office chair was damaged.
Staff were wonderful at this hotel. My room was very noisy as it was beside the stairs but when I asked for a room switch they immediately put me in a much quieter room. The bedspread was horrible but thankfully there was a spare blanket in the wardrobe so I could pull it off.

Great downtown location boutique hotel feeling

Posted Jan 19, 2015
I have stayed here on several occasions and enjoy the immediate proximity to Robson and Grandville Street. It is easy to walk about town from this location and close to the metro line. I like the euro boutique hotel feeling that the decor and restaurants downstairs lend to the hotel. Although, I found the rooms this time around a little run down, noise traveling more, paint chipping, no garbage bags, terrible baby powder febreeze smell that lingered in the room. Housekeeping did not replenish more coffee to the room after we had requested to reception the night before. But, they did start vacuuming outside our room at 8:30 am which was very irritating. I found the noise level a bit much. I also found they are stingy on the late check out. Some front desk people were new to me and less accommodating. Although, there is one gentleman there who is always very delightful. Neverless, for the price it is a fair stay.

Great value

Posted Jan 12, 2015
Pros: It's a charming old building from 1908, beautifully restored. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Free internet and free long-distance calls to US.
Cons: The elevator is a bit slow to come (but you can always take the stairs).
Location: There is a nice Italian restaurant on the ground floor with very tasty food. Walking distance to all major attractions in downtown Vancouver.
I came to Vancouver for a conference. Instead of checking into the (expensive) conference hotel, I decided to stay at the Moda, which was recommended by Expedia. I am glad I did--overall it was a great experience. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The place is a great value, and, in my view, provides a much more pleasant and personable experience than a big chain hotel. If I ever come back to Vancouver, I will definitely stay at the Moda Hotel again.

Great Location but AWFUL WiFi

Posted Jan 9, 2015
Pros: Location was great. Wine store attached to the hotel. Restaurants also attached.
Cons: IMPROVE YOUR WIFI!!!!!!!!!!!
Location: Granville Street bars, shopping, restaurants
My boyfriend and I spent a weekend in Vancouver last weekend and wanted to stay close to everything in the city. Moda Hotel is the perfect location.. close walk to Granville Street with all the bars, Robson Street shopping, close enough walk to the ferry to get to Granville Island, etc, etc. We had originally reserved a regular King room and when we got there they told us we were upgraded to a King Suite! It was GREAT! We were really excited about it and actually ended up spending a lot more time in the hotel because of how great our room was. However, the only negative thing was that when we tried to use the hotel's wifi to look up directions to places (since we couldn't use our phones or we'd be charged up the wall in international fees) it wouldn't stay connected! We had to enter the username and password about 30 times and it would kick us off every few minutes if it even actually connected. It was really annoying. We didn't want to be on our phones that much, but it was really inconvenient when we were just trying to look up directions. Other than the absolutely terrible WiFi, this hotel was perfect for our little 2-day vacation.

Hotel ok, rooms pretty small.

Posted Jan 8, 2015
Mods has history, but the history wasn't enough to make us want to go back. Small rooms, showers at the height suitable for children. Pretty noisy at night. Parking was a half block up and on the 5th level so it's quite a walk with luggage. Nice staff.

Great property - great location!

Posted Jan 4, 2015
Location: Within walking distance of Roger's Arena (approx. 1/2 mile). Across the street from the Orpheum Theater. Lots of dining spots within a few steps.
The Moda was perfect for us....we wanted to stay somewhere within walking distance of the The Roger's Arena since we were attending a Canuck's game. The property was great. Rooms were just the right size. It was everything we were looking for.
