Great location.

Posted Jul 27, 2014
Pros: Our room (suite) was spacious and has a bedroom, kitchen and fridge.
Location: Near beach and Stanley Park.
It is close to English Bay Beach and downtown. Lots of restaurants near by. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Room and furniture are a bit dated but comfortable. First night we were there, the hotel and room smelled awful.

Excellent location

Posted Jul 10, 2014
Pros: Location and proximity to CBD and tourist attractions
Cons: Cleanliness of rooms; more staff are needed to make the rooms more presentable. Also updating of linens, blankets and bedding help.
Location: Brilliant - close to Stanley Park, the beach for swimming and other water activities, down town shopping and ferries.
Great for families; separate rooms for sleeping, dining, cooking and sitting. The only thing we were disappointed in was the lack of general cleanliness of the rooms. Carpets need attention a good shampoo would help also new bedding as these are well out of their use by date. Overlooking these points the space was excellent for a family and its proximity to tourist attractions excellent.

Not a detail oriented kind of hotel

Posted Jul 10, 2014
The service staff were friendly and helpful but they couldn't overcome the general lack of cleanliness and bare necessities at the hotel. It was a spacious room and the location is as good as it gets in Vancouver. If they improve their eye for detail this could be a sneaky deal of a place but until I see otherwise I'm afraid I'll have to pass.

Pros: Location - free parking
The stay at the hotel was very satisfactory. Its location is unbeatable, It is near beach, park and lots of restaurants. We found it to be decent, clean, pet-friendly and very comfortable. Walking distance to everywhere. We hardly used our car. Staff very friendly.

4th July overnight from Seattle

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: Liked having a kitchen though we did not have family with us this time...would be fine next time.
Cons: Could do with a little updating on fixtures
The room was perfectly acceptable for us. The fixtures a little old but the place was clean and spacious....also trade off modernity for location. Great spot.

Affordable Suite in a Nice Part of Town

Posted Jul 6, 2014
The staff is very friendly and helpful. While the building is older, they always seem to be renovating something. Our suite was a good size and the kitchen was nice. I think the only downside is the carpeting. It's some kind of brown/green institutional carpeting -- the kind that looks dirty even when new. I have no doubt that it's cleaned regularly, but it looks and feels iffy. Not a big deal. Free parking (?!) and WiFi round out the package.

Comfortable hotel with great location

Posted Jul 5, 2014
Pros: Location, location, location!
Location: Premium location: walk along the English Bay at dawn; biking in Stanley Park; a few blocks from Robson Street, Canada Place etc.
I was looking for a conveniently located place in downtown Vancouver to stay for my family at a reasonable price. Oceanside Hotel proved to be the right choice. The English Bay is literally across the street; and Stanley Park served as a backyard within 5 minutes walking distance. You might be hesitant of the condition and cleanliness based on pictures online, but to be honest, they completely exceeded my expectations - very clean and well-organized. There was a kitchen in our room with all utensils available. We asked for a corner room facing the English Bay in advance (as so many other comments suggested) - best decision ever, the room was spacious and quiet. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Thank you for the pleasant stay!
