nice hotel close to our sons apartment

Posted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: The beds are very comfortable and it is within walking distance to our sons apartment. Just what we needed!
Cons: The appearance of the front lobby reception area could be updated.
Location: Fairly close to downtown. Close to some good restaurants.
The room was very comfortable and clean. Next stay we will ask for a room with a view as ours looked out onto the arthritis clinic. The hotel was very quiet even though it was full.

Dear Guest, We're very glad to hear that you had a nice stay. The view of the city and mountains on the North side of the hotel is spectacular. Keep in mind the view rooms are on the streetside of the hotel therefore there is the inevitable sound of traffic and the city. We look forward to welcoming you back. Jill Love Rooms Division Manager

Dear Guest, Thank you for your feedback. We are continually replacing amenities and each year a number of improvements are budgeted for. This year our major project was the installation of a second elevator and the upgrading of our original elevator. The project was just completed in early June and we plan to replace the wall vinyl in the hallways next. Each month we are replacing the entry flooring in the rooms and resurfacing the bathtubs in several rooms. Our hotel has very high occupancy so our rooms are very well used. In the last 1-3 years we have replaced the closets, dressers and TV's in most rooms as well as replacing the desks in our Corporate king bedded rooms and added built-in headboards with reading lights and side tables to these rooms as well. My apologies if on this stay your room did not meet your expectations. I hope we can welcome you back again in the future. Jill Love Rooms Division Manager

Insecure storage of credit card details.

Posted Jun 29, 2014
Cons: The existing towel rack does not even have enough space to hold the clean towels and housekeeping places some clean towels on the bathroom counter.
I would like to warn about two unusual hotel policies. First, they insisted in placing a 'preauthorization' charge of $50 per day on my credit card to cover incidentals. I know it is typical for hotels to request credit card information to cover possible incidentals, but I have never had a hotel place a 'preauthorization' charge for this. I have stayed at many hotels - including other Radisson hotels and have never seen this. While it was only a 'preauthorization' charge; it totaled $200 for my four day stay. The second INAPPROPRIATE policy could have affected the security of my credit card information. Check-in staff had already taken an electronic 'swipe' of my card. This meant they ALREADY HAD an electronic copy of my credit card information in their system. However, they ALSO insisted on taking a MANUAL PAPER IMPRINT of my credit card which they placed in a small file box at the front desk. I asked why they needed the imprint when they already had an electronic copy of my credit card information and was told it was their policy. While I was concerned about them taking an unsecure copy of my credit card information, I pretty much had to let them do what they wanted since I was standing in the lobby with my luggage. With a secure electronic credit card system in place (which masks numbers and keeps information safe), it is not acceptable for the hotel to insist on taking paper imprints as a backup. Due to this inappropriate policy, I would NOT recommend.

Dear Guest, I'm sorry if you found our policies unusual. Many hotels have automated systems that allow their front desk system to automatically authorize your credit card as required, this will include an amount for incidentals. Our hotel has chosen not to leave the authorization to the computer and the guest is given the terminal to approve the transaction. In our mind, this is a more transparent way of doing business. We do indeed authorize $50 per day up to a maximum of $250. This is to cover any number of incidental charges that guest may incur such as parking, laundry services, long distance calls or food & beverage charges. We take the security of your information very seriously and we have never had a instance where there has been a mishandling of guest information. At departure all documentation is stored in a locked room, only accessible by a select number of employees. All documentation is destroyed by shredding, and we hire a bonded company to perform this task. The Management

How did raddison put their name on this hotel

Posted Jun 23, 2014
Cons: Beds, interior, staff, smells of smoke....vending machines for pop but no snacks?
Stay anywhere else if your looking for comfort! I stay at a lot of hotels and this one was the worst. TV was terrible!! Constantly smells like smoke! This is an old hotel and It shows! I seriously considered sleeping on the floor

Dear Guest, I am very sorry that you had a disappointing stay. Yes, our building is over 40 years old but we had a major renovation which gutted all our room in 2006 and since then we've replaced all the carpets( rooms, hallways and public areas) the closets, the dressers, the TV's, the drapes and shears, and the built in headboards with reading lights and side tables and the desks in the Corporate king bed rooms. Every month we refinished the bathtubs and replace the entry flooring in some rooms. This year a large percentage of our annual capital has gone towards installing a second elevator and upgrading our original elevator. That project has just been completed. Next on the list is to upgrade our guest floor hallways and the tile flooring in the lobby. We are constantly making improvements, but it takes time as we run very high occupancy year round. Again I'm sorry that our hotel didn't meet your expectations. Jill Love Rooms Division Manager

Comfortable and convenient to the hospital

Posted Jun 20, 2014
Pros: The room was very nice, the beds in the room we were in were very comfortable, something that is always an issue with other hotels in the area.
Cons: The hotel restaurant could us some updating but the staff were very friendly and the breakfasts were very filling.
The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating and the location was close to the hospital. The seasonal rates for this hotel were much more affordable then other hotels close to the hospital at this time of year. We had been regulars at another hotel in the area but I will be switching to this hotel because of the comfort of the room and the affordability.

Don't stay here for wifi

Posted Jun 10, 2014
We picked this hotel partly for the free wifi. My husband had some work to check on and the kids were going to watch a show before bed. The wifi only worked by the hotel room door, so it was pretty useless. We complained and the girl said she would send maintanence up. Not sure how they would help but they didn't show. Another person told us to call tech support. The parking garage has signs saying that car thieves work there day and not. We did not sleep well thinking our car would be broken into. The man that originally waited on us at the front desk was helpful. He did comp our parking due to our complaints. Our toilet was clogged but there was no one to plunge it so we had to try ourselves. We couldn't get it so we just checked out early. There was hair in the bathroom.

Could hardly have been better!

Pros: Mostly everything, but especially the staff and the customer relations they showed.
Cons: Possibly upgrading to newer pieces of furniture/bathroom
Location: On West Broadway - very busy street. Blocks away from VGH, Specialists offices and BC Cancer Clinic. Went across street to Tim Hortons for a yummy sou
Well to begin with, we are certainly not used to driving in the big city of Vancouver and our GPS kept screwing us up. We were tired and thirsty and decided to call Park Inn. Spoke with a front agent by the name of Anita at the front desk. She was a life saver. She guided us right to the hotel ( even kept us on the cell phone) and even came out to direct us to the correct parking spot. If they have employees like that....I will certainly be back. Another employee - Youla (sorry if I got your name wrong) in housekeeping, was very, very friendly and helpful and because I was there to check into the Cancer Agency for testing, and she knew of my faith in speaking with me, said she would say prayers for me. Also in checkout, I got a big hug from her, Now that is Customer Service. Way to go Park Inn. (Now, please give me a break in price, as I have to be there when I go down for surgery).....just kidding, but would be nice. The best to everyone there! Carol

Old

Posted May 11, 2014
Cons: Get queen sized beds
The rooms were old and well used. The toilet made a horrible noise and would come on in the middle if the night. The beds were small ~ a double. Next time we will plan ahead and make sure we get a better hotel. There was only one elevator working and it was so slow.

Dear Guest, I am so sorry your stay was unsatisfactory. Unfortunately I don't know which room you were in but hopefully you mentioned the issue with the toilet to the front desk so that we could have it taken care of. We have done extensive renovations over the last number of years. The carpets, closet units, TV's, and armoires are new within the last 1-3 years. There are a number of other improvements including new beds, built-in headboards with reading lights and work desks in select rooms. Up until March, this hotel only had 1 elevator. In mid March our new elevator went into operation. 2 weeks later we took the original elevator out of service in order to upgrade it. In a few weeks time that elevator will be in service and we will finally have 2 elevators in the building. We realized 1 elevator is an inconvenience, but there is no good time for this type of work and the end result will be 2 brand new elevators which we are very excited about. Once our elevator project is complete we will be doing some renovations in our hallways, including new wall covering and carpets. Jill Love Rooms Division Manager
