Good hotel for a week

We stayed 5 days in this hotel. It is like a small department, comfortable and at walking distance from some of Vancouver's touristic sites. Employees were kind and they were helping us with our tours.

good overall
Posted Jan 9, 2013
Spacious room.Curtains non existent..only sun blinds which didn't really stop the light. We had requested a quiet room, but were given a room on the noisy street side. Fortunately, the next day we were able to move to the other side of the hotel, which made a huge difference. The location was excellent, and the hotel had a nice view. Once we moved to a quiet room we were very happy with our stay.

Great location and comfortable rooms.
Posted Jan 21, 2013
Pros: location
Cons: exterior
Location: perfect for the harbour and Stanley Park
The Riviera Hotel is in an excellent location for sight seeing, being only a few blocks away from Cold Harbour and Stanley Park. It is surrounded by very high rise buildings and from the outside looks a bit small and dated. However, we had a room on the 6th floor with a balcony looking down Robson Street towards Stanley Park and this was fine. Some of the lower floors and those looking over the back of the hotel would not have been so good. We had a kitchen with full size oven, microwave, kettle and fridge/freezer. There was a dining table, easy chairs, settee and large flat screened TV. The bedroom had a comfortable queen sized bed, a ceiling fan(please note - no air conditioning), some hanging space and a table, more hanging space in the hallway and a bathroom with a shower over the bath, We were also able to park the car at the rear of the building and there is also an underground car park which we didn't use. There is also a large Safeway Supermarket 3 blocks down. All in all a good place to stay for a short stay in Vancouver.

The hotel needs soundproofing
Posted Jan 16, 2013
Pros: Cleanliness
Cons: No soundproofing
Location: Close to shopping and Stanley Park
The location of the hotel is away from the crowd and overall is good except there're a lot fire trucks and police cars passing by all the time ( I couldn't see any accidents though #, may be that's the only way to get through and the funny part is when we went into the room, the first thing we found was two sets of ear plugs near our beds !!! We thought those are left behind # in fact the hotel was well prepared for us ) Other than that, I still would recommend it anyway

Took too long to get our room ready.
Posted Jan 13, 2013
Pros: Great view of the water & stanley park. Nice living/dining space and good little kitchen. Close to the water and Robson street shops.
Cons: Had to wait until almost 5 pm for our room to be ready.
Location: Excellent
Although the hotel was clean and newly renovated, we had to wait until almost 5 pm before the room was ready. The explanation was that "almost half the hotel had been vacated that day and the cleaning staff couldn't catch up with the reservations." Finally a very nice young Asian man (who said he was new to the job) took things in hand and told 3 staff members to prepare our room and it took them 45 minutes to do this. Overall, if we had not needed to wait to get in I would be giving this hotel a much higher rating.

hidden gem

Location: perfect! close to everything!
The Riviera hotel is great value for the money. The location is within walking distance to Stanley park, Gastown and many other places and is right on Robson street very close to great shopping. The employees at the front desk were very helpful and always asking to make sure everything was ok. The outside of the hotel and view I had was not great but the inside was pleasantly surprising and the rooms are very large and was great to have the full kitchen area with everything you need. I will definitely stay here again and would highly recommend!

Hotel Riviera
Posted Jan 6, 2013
Pros: Location
Cons: Not enough coffee in room.
Location: Great location - could walk to fantastic restaurants and shopping, and was near our conference.
Was nice to have a kitchenette. Bed was a tad hard - but that is more of a preference thing. Overall, clean and in decent shape.
