near airport with shuttle service

Posted Dec 12, 2014
I booked in after 11 pm and found that no food was available in the hotel so had to go to nearby Denny's restaurant which is not what I wanted to eat when hungry and tired. Particularly when a glass of wine would have been nice to have. Otherwise comfortable and big sprawling hotel.

Not so go resort hotel near the airport

Posted Dec 3, 2014
Pros: I would not return to this hotel and I would be leery of all Sandman hotels.
Cons: See above. A maintenance staff that showed some pride and a management that would fix such obvious problems and show some pride.
Location: Near the airport which was convenient and near the casino. A short drive brought you into the city.
There is a decided lack of maintenance through the entire hotel. The halls were constantly dirty with used dishes, towels and paper through the entire site. There were 2 buckets collecting leaking water with several panels that were collapsing but no workers ever showed up to repair the problem. The ice machine was out of service my entire stay and nobody ever showed up to repair it. The staff at the front desk were very aloof and couldn't make the effort to even greet people or ask how things were. The last day there was no hot water to shower. I called the service number but did not get an answer. The hallway were cold. At 4 AM every morning came the sound of somebody on the floor above urinating into the toilet as though there was no sound proofing between floors

Good hotel!

Posted Dec 1, 2014
Pros: Location, Location, Location
Location: Need a vehicle to get to sky train (4 mins away). Ikea (5 mins away) Costco (3 mins away) Airport (7 mins away) Downtown 20 mins via skytrain.
Good hotel, close to the airport, and skytrain (though you need a taxi or car to get to the station). I have stayed here a number of times, always have a top floor room, ending in 03-06 which seems to have the best views and be away from the traffic of the highway. This time was put in a lower floor room facing the highway, they changed the room for us, to one facing due east but the room, but it wasnt cleaned properly, there was old coffee in the pot and the shampoo had been used. The heat/air con stayed on clanking away all night giving off no heat.(Since, I was only here 1 night, I couldn't be bothered to address this with the staff as I wasnt in the room for the day and at 11:30pm didnt want to change to another room due to the heater problem) So this wasnt the best room, BUT due to past staying here I would still recommend it just ask for a higher floor facing north or north west in the tower! Also, the gift shop is pretty good (shockly proces are pretty good) and the food at CHOP and service was great. Overall I recommend this (Plus check with the hotel about long term parking if you are travelling) they have a pretty good set up with that! Happy travels.

room dark and cold upon entering

Posted Nov 16, 2014
Cons: lots,
Location: close to the airport
Arrived late at night tired and hungry, no offer of assistants. in Columbia tower to the right was told at reception. the heating was on, set to 22 but in the AM the room was still 16 fan going all night. Cobwebs above bed, bathroom floor needed attention, cleaning and repair. Only two sugar and two coffee whiteners in the room not enough for a second cup in the AM

Hotel Close to YVR

Posted Nov 5, 2014
Pros: Close to Vancouver Airport, shuttle service was prompt and rates were reasonable.
Cons: Refurbish the room.
Location: Close to YVR.
Service from the shuttle driver and Front Desk was very good, but we were disappointed in the condition of our room. The room was tired - cracked sink, broken frame around mirror, buckled carpet that looked dirty. Also the air conditioning unit was very noisy, keeping us awake even after travelling for 24 hours!

Very poor maintainence.

Room was ready early for me. Bathtub faucet dripped nonstop. Mattresses were lumpy, wornout and very uncomfortable. Paint on walls peeling. Only fantastic thing was Chop restaurant. Service and staff were 5 star quality
