Good place to stay for the frugal traveller

Pros: A quick shuttle service to the airport! A reasonable price for the stay!
Cons: The hotel needs some major upgrades, however that would also increase the price.
Location: The hotel is located at the corner of Fraser and Marine Drive SE in Vancouver.Close a White Spot Restaurant. Had no time to check out the area.
We only spent one night in the hotel. The staff at the front desk and the Complimentary breakfast were very pleasant and helpful. The bathroom facilities were old and showed wear and tear but were very functional.There were some problems with the hallway ceiling. The bed was clean and we had a very restful night.

Nice cheap stay

It's a cheaper hotel and good if you just need to crash for a night. NOTE: airport shuttle stops at 10:30 so we had to take a cab ($20). There's also a bar in the same building so if your a light sleeper might not be good on fri or sat.

Airport Shuttle

Pros: nothing
Cons: Post time of shuttles
I arrived at the airport at 11:30pm to fined out that the airport shuttle of my hotel stopped at 11:00pm. other hotel shuttles were still running and picking up their guest. There goes $20 for a taxi ride. Once you add this cost I could have stayed at a different hotel. Live and learn. So check time of shuttles or free doesn't mean free ride.

Super 8 Superbugs!

Pros: The up side was the price and a free shuttle to the airport in the morning.
Cons: D├ęcor, pest control and plumbing!
Location: Great for the airport and little else.
Super 8 hotel at 725 SE Marine Drive, Vancouver was an experience to shudder at! The curtains failed to cover the window completely, the toilet and bathroom floor were constantly covered in water. I mopped it up with the bath mat first as it was at least clean water. Half an hour later it was dripping wet again. The reason? The toilet tank fill had been plumbed into the hot water feed causing constant condensation to run off the toilet and tank and all over the toilet seat and floor. The only upside was the seat was warm, albeit extremely wet! Bedbugs also occupied the room - I captured one on a damp bar of soap and the very pleasant young man on the front desk shrugged and said he'd report it and the other issues to maintenance. No other room was offered. It was late and these were issues of long standing, so I took precautionary measures to ensure I wasn't going to take any critters home and made the best of it.

A bit disappointing!

Cons: Needs complete refurbishment
Location: Just outside of Vancouver so quite near to things and the Skytrain, Near fastfood restaurants, gas stations.
The hotel is located on a main road with good public transport to downtown and other cities. Wifi was free and lots of information available about things to do. Breakfast was included in the price but was served in polystyrene plates, cups and bowls, and plastic cutlery. You even had to fill up the milk jug yourself from a mini fridge. The dining room was in urgent need of attention, with old tables and chairs and the carpet was in need of a good clean or better still - new flooring. Our bedroom was comfortable. The towels were changed each day and bed made with fresh sheets. The only thing I would really say is that the carpet was quite dirty. It had been vacuum cleaned but not shampooed for a long time. I could not walk around barefoot. All in all the hotel is in need of a face lift and freshen up.

Good value for money spent.

Pros: Te proximity to the Indian restaurants. The food is a treat for me.
Cons: Repair the hiccoughs in the bathrooms (chips on counter etc).
Location: See above. ie restaurants. Also, if one is going to be in Vancouver, it seems like the hotel is on a couple of good bus lines.
I have stayed there two or three times and will return when I need a place to stay in Vancouver. The bathroom could use a bit of work, mainly the sink and counter but that is minor. The hotel has a restaurant/sports bar, the latter of which does not appeal to me. However, I have eaten there and the food is good. The Indian restaurants, each, one block in two different directions from the hotel are very good and also an enticement for me to return to the hotel. The service to the airport is good.

Not recommend this hotel to friends

This hotel is very dirty! There are some cockroaches on the bed! We couldn't sleep at all! We complained to the front desk staff, but they didn't helpful. We are very disappointed and check out the hotel on the next day and changed to other hotel.

It has history, but not in a good way

Pros: Good price and close to the Airport
Cons: Lighting, house staff, paint, general repairs.
Location: YVR is nice and close. Otherwise all the interesting stuff in on the other side of town.
This was not always a Super 8. It was previously a lounge and hotel, and still has quite the reputation with the Vancouver natives. The infrastructure is in desperate need of renovation. much of the former public space is now disused dimly lit and possibly haunted - again according to the locals. We didn't see any ghosts. We also didn't see much of the staff. When we arrived for check-in the front desk was empty. The receptionist eventually showed up but talk about awkward standing in the lobby of a run-down hotel with absolutely no one to be found anywhere. The elevator belongs in a museum; the matrices belong in a quarry.
