I would recommend a walk through Chinatown on a Saturday afternoon - one of Vancouver's best experiences. The sights, sounds and smells are great.

“Fantastic Location and Service”

I consistently choose Fairmont when they are in the destination I travel to. Been to 4 Fairmonts in the past year. They are consistently best in customer service. The front desk was professionally friendly. She knew all the details of my stay right away and had all the information handy which made for a very fast efficient check in. I had a king room, very big. There's a lot of space. We had a small coffee table, a flatscreen TV. The property is older and parts show her age but they keep it very clean. Maybe the next renovation I would recommend a pillowtop bed. It was comfy but it's just my preference. Very cozy sheets, great down comforter and pillows. Loved the robes in the room, perfect for lounging after a long day out. Location is central you can't beat it. We walked to Stanley Park... and pretty much all the surrounding neighborhoods. The Concierge has fantastic recommendations on restaurants. Food in Vancouver is divine. Oh - and I really liked greeting the mascot dogs in the lobby in the morning. Thank you Fairmont. We enjoyed our stay.

Area recommendations
Gyoza King down on Robson has the best Sashimi I have had in the world. So fresh and plump. Imagine the inside part of an orange and how it's full of juice. That's how the tuna is - just full. I now know what premium sushi is. We also had the Agedashi Tofu, and fried rice. There's a line - but worth it. Also enjoyed Banana Leaf on Davies for Malaysian food. Best Malaysian I've had. Great chocolate lava cake Torte at Bin 941 also on Davies Street. Yaletown has plenty of restaurants to choose from. We went to Cactus Cafe - their beef Carpaccio was amazing. And then of course - go see Stanley Park. If you're a runner, bring your shoes and run the perimeter. Though we had a car, the only time we got in it was when we drove to Capilano Bridge. Other than that you can walk to everything in Vancouver.

“Mold in bathroom. Thin walls. Not worth the price tag.”

For a Fairmont Hotel, I thought they could do better. The bathroom had mold in the shower. The walls are so thin that I could hear someone conducting a business meeting in Hindi in the room next to mine at 5 in the morning both nights I stayed there. I wanted to start banging on the wall! There was no view to speak of from my room. No breakfast included. I thought it would be a little more glamorous and special to stay at a Fairmont, especially because our Fairmont in San Francisco is so beautiful. Not the case with the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Oh well. For the price tag, this hotel is not worth it.

“Absolutely the Best Hotel in Vancouver”

I will definitely recommend the hotel to anyone of my friends or family. I have been twice to Vancouver and last time stayed at The Sutton Place Hotel, near the Fairmont. I think the Fairmont, by far, was the better deal. NO DOUBT ABOUT IT

Area recommendations
Gastown and Waterfront were my favorite.
