Not what you want

Posted Sep 2, 2014
The staff was less than professional. The walls were very dirty. The washroom facilities were not working properly and there were dirty towels left from the last customer. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Dirty and out of date

Nice front desk staff but that is where it ends- gross mold in shower and dirty dirty carpets- furniture is peeling , that is how old and abused it is- would never stay here again

Nice central hotel

My husband and I stayed for 3 days while in Van. Very comfy bed, and room, only downfall is there's no mini fridge. But ice buckets worked :)

No Shower

Posted Aug 13, 2014
The hotel is well positioned just north of Vancouver, out of the big city and easy access north. There is a Denny's right next door. The rooms were clean. However, the shower knob did not work, so I was paying a lot of money for a hotel with no shower. That's OK if they could address the issue, but they didn't. They blew it off and accepted no responsibility. Sad because everything else about this hotel was quite good all four times I had stayed.

Don't do it!

Posted Aug 12, 2014
I'm shocked that Expedia sells this hotel. It is nothing like the pictures. It's filthy! We were afraid to take our shoes off and had to put a towel on the chair to sit down. Slept on top of the covers because the linens were also dirty. Would have moved hotels but nothing was available.

North Van

Posted Aug 11, 2014
Pros: Was where we needed to end the night.
Cons: The carpets were extremely stained. The bathroom terribly outdated and worn.
Location: Shopping, Capilano Suspension Bridge
The state of the hotel was disappointing for the price. I had stayed in Whistler the previous week and for less money had a superior room.

Great basic hotel at good location

Posted Aug 11, 2014
Biggest issue was finding the place. On expedia it is referred to as Lion's Gate but that is nowhere on the sign at the hotel. Place is old and very old motel style but price and location works. Parking wasn't great onsite but there were no problems with big unused parking lot next door.

You get what you pay for

Posted Aug 9, 2014
Pros: Very convenient location if you are looking for a quick access to downtown and Stanley park.
Cons: Not all rooms have a microwave some of the hotel employees were nice others weren't Again you get what you pay for.
Close to downtown by bus, bike or walking. If you are driving you will always get stuck at the lion gate bridge
