Nice hotel, close to everything

Posted Oct 27, 2014
Cute boutique style hotel close to everything you could want to do or see downtown Vancouver. The staff were great and very accomodating. The rooms were super cute and the European style bathrooms were fun! I will definitely be staying here again!

Hotel with character and personality

Posted Oct 14, 2014
Pros: The bed was very comfortable and the rooms had a lot of character.
Cons: The site needs more staff, especially at night. When we arrived, there was no one at the desk and it was clear there was only person on shift.
Location: The area is a bit rough and there is a shelter across the street. However, we didn't notice anything weird and the hotel is located close to downtown.
The hotel is located in a slightly rough part of town, but the facility itself is very charming. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the staff was very friendly. The breakfast was quite nice with fresh baked croissants, locally made granola, greek yogurt plus fruits, juice and coffee. We would stay there again.

Great location--walking distance to Gastown

Posted Oct 7, 2014
Location: This hotel is conveniently located near Gastown. Many restaurants and pubs are located in that area. A beautiful area to stroll down cobbled streets
Loved the historical hotel. Beautiful, clean and welcoming. Staff was very friendly. We especially enjoyed talking with D'arcy at the front desk. He had great recommendations for restaurants and activities. He was genuinely interested in each person who walked in. He asked about our day when we returned from our activities. We enjoyed reliving our experiences in beautiful Vancouver while talking with him! The only issue with staying in an older building is the lack of sound insulation. We always travel with a small sound machine so it wasn't a problem for us. But, if one is a light sleeper, this could be problematic.

Good location. Very noisy room.

Posted Oct 7, 2014
Pros: Staff and location.
Cons: Need more room for dining and sound proof room off reception OR. Convert to dining.
Location: Fantastic restaurant next door.
Good hotel location but room off reception was really noisy. You can hear everyone in reception every hr - yes 4am! Staff friendly but I need my sleep too much!

Nice hotel in excellent location.

Posted Oct 6, 2014
Pros: Everything.
Cons: The noisy teens.
Location: Very close to SkyTrain and bus stops so you're pretty much everywhere you want to be in no time. It's very central, you can reach sights on foot.
Very friendly staff, room size is fine, clean, WiFi worked great, charming (lives up to its name). Breakfast was good. The only minus is that behind my room ran the fire escape (metal stairs) and some youth seemed to use that as their meeting point at night (running on metal stairs with heels, making phone calls,...). Was very annoying and loud and woke me up every night. So if you have a light sleep, come prepared. Don't know if the hotel staff can restrict access there though; after all it IS a fire escape.

Charming Boutique Hotel

Posted Sep 29, 2014
Pros: The building was old, but had charm. The bed was very comfortable. We had a room with a private bathroom, which was very large and nice.
Cons: The parking was confusing. The comp valet parking in the evening was great, but they didn't offer the valet in the morning when we needed the car back
Location: John recommended exploring Gastown, which we loved! I am already planning another trip back to Vancouver, one night was not enough time!
I booked the room for the wrong night. John at the front desk was very friendly and understanding. He was able to get us in for that night and assist us in cancelling the incorrect reservation with no charge. He was also very helpful with suggestions of things to do during our short visit. I was impressed with his customer service. The woman in the morning was helpful in confirming that we had changed our reservation. However, when I asked if our luggage could be stored while we grabbed brunch, she told me to put it in the breakfast room adjacent to the front desk. This didn't seem secure to me, so I asked if she had somewhere more secure that we could store our luggage (maybe behind the front desk?). She snapped, "It is secure. I'm the only one here and I watch it." It didn't seem to me that she would be able to fully see into the breakfast room or keep her eyes on our luggage at all times. Anyone that went in to sit or eat would have easy access to our belongings. Thankfully, everything seemed untouched when we returned.

Almost perfect....

Posted Sep 22, 2014
This hotel is charming, exceptionally clean and is right beside a very, very yummy restaurant. The only problem- the street noise!!! Even with earplugs (and several cocktails) it was almost unbearable. The windows were shut (which made it very hot...no air con.)...and the sirens and car noise was all night. I would have honestly paid more to have a hotel off a main road. So sad, as it was really perfect otherwise.

Clean but small

I have never had to ensure my room had its own bathroom. It was expensive for shared bathroom The room was extremely small no room to move
