Pleasurable stay in the off season with most extensive breakfast we have seen in India yet and lovely pool which we enjoyed every day, reasonable distance to sights, helpful staff

Reasonably centrally locatedPosted Mar 6, 2013 on Hotels.com
We got a bad deal. Ramada did not honour the booking made through Hotels.com and with great difficulty we managed to get rooms after persuading them for almost 11/2 to 2 hrs in addition to daily chasing them for booking after confirmation with Hotels.com. They finally agreed to give us one single suite and one 2 bedroom suite which turned out to be a disaster as they converted one single suite to 2 bedrooms, which had 1 and half toilet, no tea coffee service in 2nd bed room and no place to keep luggage in one so called bedroom (converted from sitting area), no shower curtain, in short it was a horrifying experience for Sr Citizens like us.

Ramada in VaranasiPosted Dec 3, 2012
Location: About 6 kms from river but an easy cab ride. Along strip with other hotels.
The hotel is comfortable and good deal for the price. Service overall was ok but if you order off the menu in the restaurant expect to wait a bit longer for your meal - not sure why.
Nice rooms, spotty servicePosted Aug 15, 2012 on Hotels.com
Some hotel workers- the front desk mainly- were impolite and spoke about my friends and I in an unflattering way in Hindi, thinking we would not understand. Other employees in the restaurant and bar were delightful! The rooms are very comfortable. The wifi is NOT Free! You have to pay for that, which is ridiculous, considering the price of the rooms. Also, it's not especially convenient. Expect to pay at least 70 rupees just to get to the old city.

Welcome comfort but poor service.Posted Jan 23, 2012 on Hotels.com
We were prepared to pay a bit more for comfort at this leg of our holiday and this Ramada Plaza is relatively expensive. What we were not prepared for was to be told on check in that there was a "mandatory" 6,000 rupee per couple New Year's Eve Gala Event! We had just arrived after an overnight train trip from Delhi with no desire to spend the night with a hip hop DJ from Hyderabad or a rock band from Delhi nor compete for prizes in categories such as 'best dancer,' 'best dressed couple' or 'most loving couple'! This is fine for those who chose to take part but to be told it was mandatory and that we had to pay for the pleasure was too much! That was an uncomfortable start. We had months ago booked a double room but on being taken to it found it was twin. On noting that our booking request for double had been confirmed, porter (after phone calls) offered to push single beds together. We declined this, wanting a double bed, to be told (after more phone calls) that they were all booked out. More phone calls, we were told that if we could wait until someone checked out we could have one, as we agreed to do. After a very short time of settling in to wait, a room was miraculously available. Service in the restaurant was very uneven with generally sullen responses to any request. On our last morning, the breakfast buffet was not ready even at 7.30am despite supposedly opening at 7.00am. Food was being put in cold and heated in the bains-marie - food safety nightmare! No coffee was forthcoming at all for that breakfast despite our request. Hotel facilities are good by Indian standards but service levels do not not match.

Ramada Hotel, Varanasi. Good quality 3 star hotelPosted Jun 8, 2011 on Hotels.com
This was my third stay at the Ramada in Varanasi. The service there has always been excellent, and the staff friendly and helpful. This time the pool was closed for maintenance, but we got a discount for that. The Indian restaurant, Tadka, serves excellent food and isn't too expensive for what you get. The hotel is a little far from the river and the roads in Varanasi are a right mess at the moment (8/6/2011) for travelling by tuk-tuk. It is walkable, just about if it's not too hot. Most of the hotels around seem to be a similar distance, though. Well recommended.

Great Staff and Great Experience!!Posted Apr 8, 2011
Hats off to the staff of Ramada Plaza hotel. Great service with a smile! Check in was efficient and comfy rooms. Room service staff were polite and courteous. Reception staff were wonderful. Concerns - Tour Desk Staff, he kept on chewing the beetle leaf and his teeth was red stained with saliva almost leaking off his mouth. He kept on chewing and talking and the sight was disgusting. Other than that all was great!!! We had a great time at the hotel.

OK - but.....Posted Dec 9, 2010
The hotel is located some distance (~3km) from the main tourist attactions of the Ganges and the Ghats. It is, however, in a quiet area where many of the other large "international" hotels are to be found. it is mainly used by tour groups. Generally the hotel is OK, but some of the furnishings etc are a little tired and ready for replacement. A little effort and some expenditure could really transform it into a super hotel. if i were to return to Varanasi, I think I would be considering other hotels in the area first.
