Fantastic Views

Posted Sep 15, 2014
Great views from every part of the hotel. Rooms are clean but spartan. Staff are welcoming. Somewhat out of town and the restaurant is basic in the evening but apart from that we had a lovely stay.

Food EXCELLENT, view to die for depending on room

Sort of hard to find but actually just off the main road. You enter the hotel via an elevator and funicular that looks like a piller in the parking lot. Once we figured that out the experience was flawless! Want to come again as soon as we can.

A walk from town but worth it

Posted Sep 6, 2014
Pros: Refer to the above
Cons: Enlarge shower
Location: Location is a walk from town but has the advantage of removing one from the tourist crowd. Views are nothing short of spectacular from the hotel.
Excellent staff, beautiful view, very quiet, nice breakfast, small shower, Varenna is fabulous!

Must visit Varenna

Posted Aug 31, 2014
Stunning!! The views are breathtaking and the village has more than enough great places to eat great meals or have a glass of wine. You can ferry to the bright lights, and come home to peace, quiet and stunning views. They could use fans in the rooms just to move air around. Not a big deal.

Incredible views in this arena hotel

Posted Aug 17, 2014
Incredible views from up the hill, must take 2 exterior lifts to get to. The views are priceless. we moved to a better view room, even though could haves easily used the terrace at any time. The view rooms available had single beds in them-this is a converted monastery. Would have preferred to stay in the double room. Also, the lower lift broke twice while we were there. Simply had to walk up to upper functioning lift. Hotel staff were very friendly and wanting to assist us as necessary. Will return!

Hotel in the sky.

Posted Jun 26, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff.
Cons: Evening menu very limited, and house wine not brilliant.
Location: A quarter-of-an-hour walk downhill to Varenna, but with lovely restaurants by the lake.
A two-level hotel, separated by self-operated cabins, taking you about 100 metres (almost vertically) from reception, bar, and dining room to a palatial building on 5 floors (with lift) housing bedrooms, patios and terraced gardens. The rooms are well-appointed and comfortable, and the veiws of the lake (180 degrees) sensational.

Hotel in Spectacular Position overlooking L Como

Posted Jun 25, 2014
Pros: It's position and friendly and helpful staff.
The principle attraction and uniqueness of this hotel is its position on its own and half way up the mountain side just outside - but within easy walking distance of - Varenna, which is itself much the nicest and least commercialised resort on Lake Como. The hotel comprises two parts: an upper section which is accessed by funicular railway and a lower part which includes the reception area and dining room. We were lucky to be able to book the Teodolinda Suite in the upper section which included a large and covered terrace with what must be one of the best and most spectacular views of Lake Como anywhere. Indeed it was tempting just to remain on our terrace and not leave the hotel at all. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful, and eager to help suggest places to visit or book restaurants. The breakfast was typical for Italy, which was fine for us but may disappoint those who want a "full English". Dinner is relatively simple but tasty and served in a dining room with a splendid view over the Lake and Varenna - there are of course many more sophisticated and expensive restaurants 10 minutes walk away in Varenna.

Pros: Nice staff Good breakfast Great view Close to town
Cons: WIFI
Location: Under half a mile from town where there's shopping and dining and the ferry dock
A little hard to find and a steep, narrow drive to get too, but an absolutely beautiful view of lake Como

Cool Place!

Posted Jun 16, 2014
Pros: The views, the staff, the cleanliness
Great place to stay with stunning views! After having stayed at other b and b's we were VERY happy for how clean the room was. It was by far the cleanest feeling room we stayed in - which for me is one of the most important things. The views were breathtaking! The on site restaurant had excellent fresh amazing food that was very decently priced. The staff all very friendly. Would stay again for sure!!
