“One big, delicious, breakfast! Friendly, helpful folks all around.”

I stayed for 8 nights and loved every one of them. The room was not expensive as Karlstad goes but the treatment I got didn't show the low price. Everything was clean and well cared for. The staff were friendly. Easy internet access. Two blocks from the major town square and bus stops. Near great trails for walking or biking along the river. Hotel offers free bikes to its guests and I loved taking advantage of that.

Area recommendations
Lots of history in this town plus a lot of water activities as it sits on the north end of the big lake. Biking is a good way to get around cheaply. People are friendly everywhere and most know English pretty well.
Getting there
Fly to either Oslo or Stockholm and take the train to Karlstad. It's about $100 for the trip from the airport to Karlstad. However, taking the bus is much cheaper, about an hour longer, but you see a lot of Swedish countryside and towns. It's a very relaxing trip after so much air time. I recommend that you take one of these back to your departure site a day or two before your flight and enjoy those cities some before you head home. I say this because going directly to Stockholm Arlanda airport from Karlstad is not so easy, especially on weekends. Enjoy!
