“Highly recommended in Avignon”

We stayed in the original old part of the hotel and were extremely pleased with our room, which was spacious, charming and very comfortable. The only thing that could have posed a problem for some is that it was reached via 2 steep spiral stone staircases. We found the staff friendly and helpful and would highly recommend the hotel.

“Great Location”

We had a pleasant stay at this hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was ideal for getting around. The hotel is situated just within the old city walls from where all local attractions are within walking distance. On the other side of the city wall within a five minute walk is the train station from where one can catch trains to all local destinations. There is also a shuttle to the TGV station which stops nearby. Best of all, the hotel has enclosed on site parking with quick and easy access to major roads. We used our rental car to go exploring on some days and the trains from both the local station and the TGV station on other days.

“Beautiful historic hotel”

The hotel was absolutely gorgeous. I must have taken fifteen pictures of it because of its beauty. Everyone that worked at the hotel was polite, helpful, and Phil has perfect French and beautiful English. The rooms were modernized, and it was comfortable. Get the standard room, it's cheaper and they are like lofts...so the bed is upstairs while the bathroom is down. I can't wait to return, and when we do, we'll certainly stay at the St. Louis. Also, the location is perfect.

“One our best and most rememerable hotel experiences, just oozed atmosphere, very French.”

We rang ahead to make sure that we had a superior double for four nights and we had been upgraded. We had a wonderful turret room in the old part, a spiral staircase and bathroom downstairs. Windows and shutters were on all four sides with views over the old courtyard and across terracotta roofs. There were exposed beams supporting the roof. Wonderfully special, quiet and private. It was very hot but air conditioning was quiet and effective. We kept windows shut at night but had some problems with mosquitoes as its near the Camargue, repellant is needed, insectiside is provided. We did not use the roof top swimming pool but it looked nice. It would have been good to have had tea/coffee in the room but we did not expect it. There was an expensive mini bar fridge so we drank the tap water instead, no problem there. There is a supermarket just five minutes walk for provisions which you can then store in the fridge. Breakfast was not included and a bit pricey but we had it all four days as it was so substantial and set us up for the day. The restaurent seemed expensive but high quality, we ate elsewhere and spoiled for choice. We parked one night in the hotel which should have cost us 10 Euro but they waived it - how's that for service! We were well impressed, many staff spoke good English and were very helpful. All round an excellent experience with all the sites in short walking distance, we would stay there again.

“Historic, convenient and comfortable”

The location is great. Get off the TGV navette (bus) at the Post Office; it costs E1.10 and runs most of the day and night. Walk around the corner. Some rooms are quite minimal (others nicer) and for warm weather there's a pool that I've never used over several visits. Desk can get busy. No tea/coffee sets in rooms. Nice breakfast at extra cost, patisserie and pharmacy nearby. Walk to Palace of the Popes, shops, etc. Great town.

“Great location and good value”

The hotel used to be a jesuit school and has been converted utilising the original building but also a new extension. We were in the new extension and the rooms were very nice, comfortable and larger than your average hotel room. The hotel bar was a bit pricey but as you are within the city walls and on the main street there were plenty of alternatives. All in all I would recommend the hotel.

“Can't wait to go back”

Wonderful hotel set in beautiful historic cloister, near town railway station and shuttle bus from TGV station, short walk to city centre. Excellent restaurant looking into cloister -imaginative cuisine. Small but adequate swimming pool and lovely sunny roof terrace. Good aircon even in traditional rooms.

“Amazing Setting with Updated Rooms”

The hotel is in an old cloisture and has a modern edition. We were in one of the rooms in the original cloisture. You had to go through a small chapel to reach the rooms! We had 2 floors with a sofa bed, living area, and full bathroom on the bottom floor and a spiral staircase, bedroom, and another full bath upstairs--which is unbelievable in Europe!!! The service was superb, especially Philip at the reception! It was conveniently located to the Palais du Pape, shopping areas, and restaurants.

“A stunning historical building and a gracious and comfortable hotel complex”

We very much enjoyed our stay and marveled at the beauty of the cloister and garden every morning over breakfast and relished our quiet and comfortable room.

“Great location”

Beautiful, clean and very quiet rooms. Well appointed. Centrally located and very near the Tourist Office where they have great information on the area winerys. Parking was availale on site which is not always true in small walled cities. Helpful with good restaurant suggestions.
