We stayed at Ibis Avignon Centre Gare for the convenience, but the fact that it is within walking distance of the train station and for sightseeing is the only convenience.
The property states it has air conditioning, but it did not work in our room. We could hear the fan running, but there was no cool air, so we had to resort to opening the window. This was an issue as it was very noisy at night and in the early hours of the morning. Also, the Mistral was blowing for about five days and nights while we were there, and it was unpleasant to not be able to escape it after a full day outdoors.
A warning to allergy sufferers: The property uses a very strong detergent on bed linens and a very strong, scented spray in the hallways. I had to breathe from my mouth while making our way to our room as I could not stand the strong fragrance.
The restaurant has good food and wine. I applaud our waitress of the last couple of nights as I don't know how she managed to take orders, cook the food, and serve it so expediently and with a smile and cheerful disposition nonetheless. I imagine the hotel is suffering from a staffing shortage as they definitely need more help.
To not end on a sour note, I must add that the breakfast buffet was a real plus here and very reasonable with breads, croissants, madeleines, eggs, tea, coffee, juices, yogurt, jams, butters, and cheeses, etc.
