Let's start with the good. The location is excellent, right in the center of Avignon. The front desk staff is also extremely helpful, there was just one girl there for the duration of our stay but she was very kind and accommodating- even allowing us to store medication in their fridge as the rooms were not equipped with them. The beds were comfortable and the room large. Now for the bad. Our room was filthy, easily the dirtiest hotel room I've had the misfortune to inhabit. There was a water pipe that for whatever reason ran along the outside of the wall, and it was obvious that the space between it and the floor had never been cleaned. There was therefore a thick rim of dirt and dust ringing the perimeter of the room . The bathroom was unacceptably dirty as well, it smelled terrible and there were human hairs scattered about the surfaces. The Internet also did not work well for much of the day, occasionally we were able to get service in our room- but not frequently. All in all, I would not stay here again unless I heard that the cleaning process had received significant overhaul.

Location is the only good thing about itPosted May 16, 2015
LOCATION: Bang in the center of the town on the main street which connects to the station...about 600 meters from train and bus station and close enough to main attractions like palace of popes and pont du avignon STAFF: people at reception were helpful and answered our queries FOOD: we did not exercise the breakfast option but it did not look very appealing and was fairly costly... will get much better stuff at cheaper rates at many restaurants around ROOM: The room was fairly big and had a balcony but the bathroom was old and not very well maintained... the tap broke the first day itself and we just fixed it and used it somehow... WIFI: they offered free wifi but the speed was terrible and takes a long time for even mobile sites to open

Very central, very reasonable price; lots of flawsPosted May 3, 2015
Pros: As I said above, it was very reasonably priced for a central location. If you're on a budget, double-check your booking and unplug the TV. Harmless.
Cons: The booking system!! The TVs need fixing, the bathrooms need maintenance, a few simple changes of bulb and a lick of paint could make it lovely.
Location: Bang smack in the middle of the old city, fantastic location. Papal Palace up the road, lots of restaurants, station nearby; cafes, shops, museums!
Let's start with the good. Booked via Expedia it was incredibly reasonably priced for a central location. Of the two rooms we stayed in, the second was light, pleasant, comfortable. Staff were bilingual and if you want a basic budget stay, it's fine. The bad. We booked to stay in a twin room. On arriving the hotel didn't have a record of this fact, blaming Expedia, and went on to say that on their booking form it was a double OR a twin, and because you booked a twin didn't mean it would be available. It was a 'request' not a 'demand'. For two nights me and my Mum shared a double bed, before finally being moved. 1st room (the double) was badly lit, had a slightly grubby bathroom, was cramped and grey. The walls were very thin, although the beds were comfortable. (Though only one pillow per bed, if that's an issue for you.) The TV remote had no back, and there was a broken electric socket by the bed. When we were moved to the twin room, it was better, though the bathroom was still a bit run down. (Hands-free showers were out.) Cleaning staff threw away my empty travel bottles (mildly annoying). In both rooms the TVs turned themselves on at 3 a.m. without explanation, though we hadn't touched them. Having to hand in your key whenever you leave the hotel sometimes leads to waits when returning. Not the hotel's fault, but be aware - Rue de la Republique isn't the quietest street in town. (Municipal vehicles 6 a.m., revelers p.m.) and brace yourself for mosquitoes at night.

satisfaisantPosted Mar 24, 2015 on Hotels
