Les chambres méritent d'être modernisées par rapport à l'espace accueil et le restaurant lesquels sont parfaitement bien décorés. Personnel charmant et accueillant.

Magnificent Scenery

Posted Jun 18, 2012
Pros: Scenery,food,service,location
We stayed here in Summertime. For us, this hotel was fantastic. If you are looking for a small authentic Swiss hotel set in the mountains then this is for you. The views from your hotel room are magnificent. Pictures shown on site are very accurate. The bar and resturant areas are all wood finished which gives great affect and both have terras offering the glorious views. You also have the benefit of the hot-tub in the outside bar-area terras!! We were given a warm welcome and good local advice by the owners in English. Be aware though of the French resturant waiter giving his un-intentional version of Basil Fawlty which we thought was very amusing. He did do a good job though.

Hôtel Le grand Chalet à LEYSIN = idéeal séjour

Posted Aug 10, 2011 on Hotels.com

Great Location but average hotel and accommodation

Posted Aug 12, 2008 on Hotels.com
We stayed for a couple of nights in a superior chalet room with our two children (this is the only room type which is capable of having extra beds, not mentioned on website). Excellent location for views, walking trails. About 5 mins walk down to the centre of Leysin. We were booked into a ground floor room, the balcony of which is next to a jacuzzi - so we had an interesting view of the scenery as well as the mountains. Not a problem for us but might offend more conservative guests ! Is used until 9pm during summer. The overall quality and service at the hotel was ok but nothing special, bkfast buffet good - we had to wait for someone to arrive at reception on arrival and departure, all v.functional but not particularly friendly. Hotel was almost full but am sure that the atmosphere will be different in winter, typical of many Swiss resorts we have stayed at. So nothing special but at same time perfectly adequate for a few nights stay.

Pretty good but it's a bit of a walk

Posted Mar 14, 2008
Nice place - staff are helpful if not particularly friendly. Breakfast was above average for a 3 star hotel. The rooms were pretty good too although some had upgraded bathrooms whilst others were left in 1970s brown. The main drawback is that it is a long walk uphill from the slopes and the village - nearer a km than 50m (the 50m from slope would only occur in the event of a new ice age!). However, there are ski and boot lockers in the gondola building which means things aren't too difficult.

Swiss Chalet with all the trimings and great views.

Posted Aug 15, 2006
This is a great Hotel for peace and quiet. The views are fantastic, the staff very friendly and very confortable and clean rooms. Just what you would expect for a Swiss chalet hideaway hotel. Our evening meal on the terrace was very good and the views are dramatic.
