“Charming Venetian Hotel”
La Locanda di Orsaria was a charming hotel. The location was convienient, just a short walk from the train station. Our room was clean, not too small, and quiet. Loved the breakfast with our personal barista. Can't wait to go back to Venice.
“Great hotel, expect the beds!”
The hotel had wonderful staff, a lovely man who takes care of your breakfast, and very great location by the train station. It is also perfect location to walk to everything or get a water taxi. We loved it except the bed was litterally the worst and hardest bed I have ever laid on. It was like sleeping on the floor! Besides that, it was very nice.
“Next time in Venice we'll stay here again!”
We very much enjoyed our stay in Venice and would definitely stay at Locanda di Orsaria again. It was such a great location and the staff went out of their way to help us. Wonderful small hotel.
“Nice hosts”
Very accommodating hosts; room and service were great, location good (30 minute walk to San Marco; but 2 minute walk to vaporetto stop and train station.) Breakfast not so good.
“A great bargain”
This place was much nicer than we expected for what we paid (though to be fair we received an excellent deal). The English-speaking staff was very friendly and eager to help. Our room was large and well appointed, with a refreshing old-fashioned gaudiness. Breakfast was adequate, though I remember being surprised at the quality of the coffee. The location was great -- right around the corner from the train station, on a quiet street, and close to plenty of services (including a laundromat).
“Locanda di Orsaria - A Tourist's Dream”
This cozy inn is just great, almost perfect for anyone seeking reasonably priced accommodation in Venice. We had a wonderful stay here for four nights and were touched by the hospitality of everyone. Renato, the innkeeper, personally serves you coffee, or cappuccino, or latte, or tea, or hot chocolate, or whatever you like each morning. Without exaggeration, he makes the best cappuccino in the world!! The breakfast is continental, served with everything you might want to have before you set out for the day. Locanda di Orsaria offers complimentary wireless internet access to its guests which is appreciated. The inn is located within 5 minutes from the Santa Lucia railway station and within 2 minutes of the jetty from where you can catch the vaporetto to water shuttle down the Grand Canal, or you can just about walk to any place from here. The rooms are immaculately clean and very tastefully decorated. With all the conveniences of this inn and the hospitality, this place is a tourist's dream. Our very special thanks to Renato and his staff for their help, guidance, hospitality, and for doing everything to make our stay very comfortable, enjoyable, and memorable. We look forward to staying at this inn when visit Venice again the future!
“Very nice hotel in Venice”
As this was our first time visiting Venice, I wanted to find a hotel close to the train station that would be easy to find. I decided to give this hotel a shot after reading reviews from several different web sites. We were not disappointed. From the train station, the hotel is just a 2-3 minute walk, and very easy to find (a definite plus for a first-timer in Venice). Walking to Piazza San Marco took my wife and I about 20-25 minutes. If you chose to use the water busses, the stop was right down the street as well. The staff at Locanda di Orsaria were very helpful and courteous. You shouldn't come here expecting a room the size of a major name-brand hotel; the room was on the smaller side, but definitely not to a point where we felt constrained. I am just under 6', and I can see how someone a few inches taller may feel a bit cramped in the bathroom, but I didn't. I also had to watch my head on the stairway, but that was not really a problem. The room was well kept and clean. The free WiFi worked just fine. We went at the end of September when temperatures were in the 70s, so I can't vouch for middle of summertime, but the A/C worked well for us. The continental breakfast consists of some breads/pastries along with yogurt and cereal, so it's not very big, but enough for what we wanted. Given the price, the location, the staff, and the room accomodations, I'd definitely stay here again. I want to thank the staff for making it a very pleasant first time trip to Venice.
“A bit pricey but cozy, superior rooms”
The superior rooms are very small, however, nicely decorated with comfortable beds and modern bathrooms. There is no elevator. The location is close to the train station and off the main street so it is quiet. Staff was friendly.
“A bit disappointed -- seems more like a hostel than a hotel”
My husband and I stayed at Locanda di Orsaria for two nights in June. It was our last stop on our 9-day trip in Italy. We were a bit disappointed when we checked in because the hotel seemed more like a hostel than a real hotel. It's very small and is old and rundown. There was a strange odor (sort of like public bathroom odor) throughout the hotel, including our room. The staff was helpful and friendly when we asked questions and there was complimentary breakfast but we opted out because it didn't look fresh. Each time we left the hotel, we had to give the key to the front desk so they would hold it until we came back (not sure why). The only plus is that the hotel is within walking distance to the major sites such as San Marco square (which has lovely outdoor cafes). It is also within walking distance to the airport shuttle which was convenient. Other than that, we didn't really enjoy our stay at this place. Overall, we would rate it 2 and a half stars.
“a great stay”
The Locanda di Orsaria was a great base from which to explore Venice. First, it is located within an easy walk from the airport shuttle bus stop and the train station. This is important because getting luggage to a distant part of Venice would either be very tiring or very expensive. Second, the staff is incredibly accommodating and helpful. They are happy to keep your luggage secure before and after checkin, speak excellent English (and probably a few other languages), and eager to provide advice. The room was very clean, and furnished with beautiful antique furniture. The only bad point was that the wifi went down one night and could not be fixed until the morning, but otherwise it had a strong signal in my room. Overall, I plan to return to Locanda di Orsaria next time I'm in Venice.
