Pros: Convenient location for exploring less touristy parts of Venice, but still close to all the "must see" bits.
Cons: Courtyard-facing rooms mean that windows have to be closed to avoid smoke from guests who insist on using courtyard as a smoking area.
Location: Beautifully quiet but can be difficult to find without instructions from the hotel. Rooms are the best feature; approach is grim but don't be put off!
This is our second stay at the hotel and, while it can't boast fine views or a beautiful setting, it is conveniently located for easy access to the airport, has a number of very good restaurants close by, and is within easy walking distance of both the touristy parts of Venice and the less well-visited areas. Being off the beaten track, the hotel is lovely and quiet. Some may find the lack of on-site staff after 8 p.m. off-putting, but it is made clear how to gain entry after hours, and how to make contact with staff at a neighbouring hotel, and we did not experience any difficulty in this regard. Some rooms are extremely small and there is not a lot of storage space if you are planning a stay of more than a few days, but rooms are very clean and beds comfortable. Bathrooms are spotless and modern. Beware that some rooms have bathrooms that are up steps, which could be hazardous and would be difficult for anyone with mobility problems. Would hesitate to recommend to someone with small children. Overall, this is a thoroughly decent hotel with good prices and friendly, helpful staff.
