Reasonably cheap in an expensive placePosted Nov 3, 2012
Not a bad place for a night or two in Venice. It is quite old, but it is very quiet and it is reasonably cheap in a place that is known to be expensive. Breakfast is not great, but we didn't mind as we ate lots of Gelato in Venice! It is a walk to the main tourist attractions, but this also didn't bother us as the best part about Venice is exploring the tiny laneways and discovering amazing little shops! Very good directions are given by the owner which was great as it is very easy to get lost in Venice. Don't expect 4 star comfort if you stay here though!

Recent StayPosted Jul 3, 2012
There was a problem with our wall mount air conditioner that management tried to get service for; service people never showed up and management offered us another room and at the end of our stay, adjusted our bill. I appreciated that. Had a nice outside area to eat breakfast!

Venice - Alloggi BarbariaPosted May 28, 2012
Pros: The size of our room
Cons: Breakfast was the traditional European breakfast. A little more variety would have been great.
Location: Location was about a 10 minute walk from Piazza San Marco
Georgio was a great host. We arrived quite late and he waitged up for us and answered the door in his PJs. He also recommended a great place for lunch which was our best meal for our whole month away.

Venice GemPosted Oct 20, 2011 on Hotels.com
The hotel was a great find, the hotel was a very nice. The staff was very helpful and very nice. He gave us great suggestions. We loved the location in a quiet neighborhood, but only a few minutes walk to the main square area. Easy to get to from the boat taxi and a grocery store around the corner. The only thing someone might not like here was the bed, it was hard and not overly comfortable and the slatted bed did squeak. HOWEVER, everything else about the hotel was really nice and convient. Do Not be afraid about their star rating, considering the price, the staff, location, this is a hotel to look into.

I would like to come back ASAPPosted Jul 26, 2011
I have just come back from a short stay in Venice. The room I stayed was large and had everything it needed. The hotel location is excellent: a short walk away from San Marco and cafes and restaurants are close by.

Good price, great locationPosted Apr 5, 2011
I really recommend this quiet and friendly hotel, mainly for the price (low for Venetian standards) and the location (close to the beautiful Basilica di San Giovanni e Paolo, in a real "Venetian" area of the city, but not far from the main tourist attractions, even if any corner of Venice is a big attraction). The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean, and the breakfast is nothing special, but acceptable. Will come back again!
