Elegant, refined and peacefulPosted Oct 11, 2014
Pros: The waiting staff were so charming, the room spotless and linen changed every day, towels changed 2 a day fluffy robes and slippers.
Cons: Coffee making facilities in the room would be nice, my mother who is in her 80 s did fancy a cup before going down to breakfast,
Location: Not much on the guiadecc island pop over on the boat no problems at all
To be greeted off the private water taxi by a uniformed hotel porter makes you feel as special as can be. The hotel is a converted convent with 20 ft high ceilings and stone rough walls, the garden is perfect for breakfast, which is buffet style don't expect the plates of hot food, it's about fresh fruit and boiled eggs the coffee is fab. We loved the hotel water taxi over to the main island free of charge. There is not much on the guiadecca island to do, so hop on the taxi for all the life you want. This hotel is special but very quiet, and so not crowded, would I go back, yes, yes, yes.

Great staffPosted Oct 2, 2014
Hotel is a lovely building. Staff could not have been more friendly or helpful they were simply great. Building itself and decor are gorgeous. Shower power, wifi and spa prices the only downsides. Would stay again. Once again thanks to the staff great service.

Very nice hotel close to a water transport systemPosted Sep 23, 2014
Hotel generally was excellant however we were unfortunate to have room downstairs close to the entrance which made the room noisy

One word .... Amazing!Posted Sep 21, 2014
Cons: It would be nice to have a tea/coffee tray in the room.
Location: On Guidecca Island -- so the whole of Venice and trips all over the lagoon to other islands and the Lido.
This is one of my favourite hotels in the world. I stayed in a Junior Suite with Garden View, which was splendid with a huge bed and a fabulous bathroom. The whole hotel is stylish and elegant, with a beautiful garden (where you can have breakfast!) and an unbeatable view of the Venice skyline. Add in friendly staff and a boat to take you across the water the sister hotel near St Marks Square ... and you have a five star hotel in every sense. Can't wait to go back!

A Luxury Oasis of CalmPosted Sep 16, 2014
Fabulous long weekend in a junior suite with wonderful lagoon view. First class service. Nice to escape back to the tranquility of the Guidecca using the very convenient and frequent shuttle boat from sister Bauer hotel. Perfect!

Luxury and Style on the GuideccaPosted Sep 9, 2014
Pros: as above
Cons: as above
The Bauer Hotel on the Guidecca is an exquisite haven away from the crowds of San Marco. Nothing prepared us for the beauty of the large hotel garden which looks like somewhere in the Cotswolds. There are loungers dotted around and we spent a very happy morning reading and enjoying the good weather. There is also a swimming pool - a rarity in Venice.

Lovely quiet hotelPosted Aug 26, 2014
Hotel is very nice. Rooms very spacious. Breakfast is not really 5* standard....not much in the way of a hot breakfast. This is their Spa hotel but spa is very pricey, and a sister hotel is on the main island if you're not bothered about spa. Hotel offers free transfers to main island....drop off at the sister hotel.

Historic, quiet and romantic.Posted Aug 25, 2014
Not situated on the main island (which is good to get away from all the other tourists) but offers a free 'private water taxi'. It's a beautiful historic convent with very friendly staff. Facilities and decor was dated and didn't seem like a five star. My bed seemed as if it needed repair.
