A Little GemPosted Aug 25, 2014
Great boutique hotel in a great location with friendly staff. The room was very comfortable, and ours had great views to the canals. After the hustle and bustle of San Marco, it was great to be able to sit quietly in their courtyard and have an aperitif and watch some gondolas go by.

Third Visit to Venice, wouldnt stay anywhere elsePosted Aug 7, 2014
Pros: Location, staff, room size, outside space.
Cons: The decor is a little tired, and could do with updating.
Location: Location is ideal, everything is within walking distance.
This is the 3rd time that we have stayed at the Dona Palace. The hotel is perfectly located and the outside space is a god send! All of the rooms are air conditioned, which is unusual in Venice. We booked 2 junior suites, as there were 5 people in our party. My parents were given a free upgrade to the Royal suite-very nice! We had a junior suite on the same floor, this is the 2nd time I've stayed in this room, and in my opinon it's the best room in the hotel. It's spacious and easily accomadated the 3 of us. They both open onto the breakfast area, which was ideal for us, the balcony area is here, and apart from when people are having breakfast, it's like having your our private balcony. (On my birthday, we had dinner and drinks on the balcony. It was amazing to be able to just look over the balcony, to the right, and see the Bridge of Sighs) The outside space downstairs is great. It's a premium in Venice! You can get a private water taxi from the airport directly to here. It's a great area to sit and chill away from the crowds of Venice. This area opens out onto the canal where the Bridge of Sighs is located, so gondallas are always passing, it's great to watch life and gondallas go by with a glass of wine! The staff in the hotel can't do enough for you, and give excellent advice on tours etc. They even left a surprise birthday cake in my room with a congratulations note, plates, cutlery and napkins without being told that it was my birthday!

Just off San MarcoPosted Jul 24, 2014
Located right in the heart of Venice so easy to access anything you want. Door to door with Rossopomodoro restaurant - this is truly an extra bonus!

Room switchPosted Jul 22, 2014
The room I reserved was supposedly flooded that morning so they put me in their "sister hotel" across the street. The room I got was practically a closet; I could almost touch both walls with my hands. I was only staying for one night and the room was ready so I put up with it. I wonder how often the "flooded" excuse has been used.

Romantic with the perfect locationPosted Jul 18, 2014
This hotel is a gem because the location is very close to St Mark's square and close walking distance to the Rialto Bridge. If you look out of the window, there is the Bridge of Sighs. The staff was the best part of the hotel. Raphelle graciously worked to arrange almost all of our tours, and arranged a lovely gondola with a singer and accordion player for our anniversary. I appreciated that the staff seem to really love what they do and they take such pride in providing great service. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable. The only thing that I would recommend would be to improve the comfort of the beds, but my experience in staying in European hotels is that the beds are firmer than what we typically like in the United States. My sister and family stayed in the top floor suite and enjoyed a roof deck that overlooked the rooftops of Venice. We enjoyed a few good times up on the deck with the family. Very beautiful.

Convenient to all places and public transportPosted Jun 11, 2014
Pros: It was so convenient to all the action!! The staff were extra helpful and very friendly.
Cons: Couldn't find fault with anything.
Location: Being so close to San Marco, many shops and restaurants, makes The Dona Palace an ideal hotel.
We stayed at the Dona Place 4 days and was able to see all the beautiful buildings as we were very close to San Marco. All transportation on the canal was easy to get to, managed to go a bit further to Murano and was amazed at the beautiful glassware being made there. Of course there are many gift/souvenir shops in Venice where lots of merchandise is displayed.

Great findPosted May 26, 2014 on Hotels.com
Very courteous and knowledgable front desk, Rafaele was great. We thoroughly enjoyed central location literally behind the basilica that we booked another night upon on return from cruise. The courtyard with view of gondolas passing by while sipping wine was a major highlight. Great fine and luv the loved the breakfast with gourmet coffee.
