“Very Good Traveler Hotel”

For two travelers the hotel room does what it should do: clean, TV, air conditioning, wireless internet, free light breakfast, VERY convenient to Venice train station (2 blocks) and to all transportation (grand canal is 1 block, bus station about 5 blocks). Staff is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. No elevator, but stairs are either one or two flights and easy enough to navigate. Some noise at night that can be moderated by closing the outside shutters. In our opinion this is a very good choice for travelers looking for a hotel that does the basics well and is extremely convenient to transportation.

“receptionists are not friendly!”

there is no lift so you have to carry all your baggage by yourself. And receptionists dont help you to carry. If you can not wake up early in the morning you can find nothing to eat in the breakfast room. on the other hand, hotel location is great..

“close to train station”

We stayed at this hotel for two nights at the end of June. I really can't complain about the location. Since we were pulling our luggage behind us from the train, I wouldn't have wanted to be further. The room was was fine for two people, there was a step up to bathroom. The two big windows provided nice breezes. When we tried to use the air conditioning, we never got cool enough. One day there was a hugh puddle under the unit, I feel it needed to be vented. Breakfast was basic. After traveling throughout Italy, I found this to be the most expensive hotel we stayed at, but it is Venice.

Area recommendations
This location was fine because you could walk to everything in venice.

“Economy hotel with a great/practical location”

My son and I went to Venice for a short stay and needed a hotel near the bus depot to return to Marco Polo Airport for a very early flight. Hotel Florida is a 10 minute walk from the depot and 5 minute walk from the train station. Their are at 4 vaporetto stops within a 10 minute walk from the hotel. The service is friendly, the room small but clean and ensuite. The only drawback is the noise from the alley (voices and pulled suitcases) which could be abated by fully closing the shutters. Due to its ideal location, we were able to return to the room to rest during the day to return to walk the streets again in the evening. There are many economic restaurants nearby. The breakfast is standard French/Italian continental. The hotel service was helpful when consulted and did not hassle us needlessly.

Traveler's tip
Make sure that you buy extended passes for the vaporetto to cover the length of your stay. We enjoyed riding the vaporetto to the other islands of Venice along with outlying islands. It was a relief to know that we could jump on and off the boats without paying new fees. We enjoyed walking along the canals and waterfronts of the quiet parts of Venice and seeing the real Venetians using the nontourist squares as playgrounds for their young children in the evenings.
