Great Centralized Hotel with the friendliest staff

Posted Sep 10, 2014
Pros: The location and the friendly staff, especially the staff member who worked the reception desk in the evenings.
Cons: I think the safe might be better w/ a code lock instead of a key. I worried I might lose it.
Location: St. Mark's Square is within a 5 minute walk from the Hotel, where there are several attractions, activities, dining, and shopping.
Venice was a fantastic way to end our honeymoon and we were very happy with our stay at the Londra Palace. The hotel is located minutes away from St. Mark's Square, and was accessible to nearly everything (either by walking, public ferry, gondola, water taxi). Our room overlooked the lively street; we opened the windows to a fantastic view, but when closed, we didn't hear any of the noise from the street. The best part of our stay; however, was the friendly staff. We were greeted with a nice bottle of champagne. The nice gentlemen who worked the reception desk in the evening (wish we would have remembered his name) was able to assist us with everything. After planning all of the meals and activities in the other cities we visited in Italy, we decided to be spontaneous on our last destination. Every dinner was at the recommendation of this helpful gentleman, and we were very happy with his recommendations. We had the best time on our trip we would definitely recommend it!

Londra Palace Hotel, Venice

Posted Aug 14, 2014
Pros: Great staff, nice room, excellent dining, but not cheap.
Cons: Nothing.
Location: The hotel is next to the main waterfront, within 200 yards of St Mark's Square and all that it contains. The main ferry stops are within 100 yards
We had stayed at this hotel before and so knew what to expect. It did not disappoint. If you are looking for a five star hotel at four star prices, then this is it. The hotel staff were superb, with a very heavy emphasis on service. We travel a lot and I have rarely come across a concierge team so dedicated to helping make every aspect of your stay so enjoyable. They recommended places to visit, places to eat and things to do. They organised several excellent private water taxi tours with an excellent young man who really knew the back waterways of Venice. Our room was opulent and very comfortable. We will go back to the hotel on our next visit.

Londra - A great choice in Venice

Posted Aug 2, 2014
Pros: The location, cleaniness and staff very good; the lobby and bar elegant and comfortable; the light snacks in bar area good for lunch.
Cons: The only set back to this hotel is also its greatest asset - the location. A super busy spot which is both a plus and a minus - for us a big plus.
Location: Everything is nearby - main attractions includ a short walk to Rialto and shopping. The vaporetto stops at your doorstep includ, to Murano/Burano.
The hotel was centrally located nearby vaporetto and water taxi stops. The room was comfortable but a bit on the small side. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful with recommendations for restaurants and train schedules to different cities like Padova and Verona. One particular great restaurant within a 5 minute walking distance from the hotel is Oliva Nera (Black Olive) - a must for those who want to have the absolute best in Italian/Venetian cuisine - from fried zucchini flowers to risotto seafood to pasta and fish and meat dishes. Try the parmigiano appetizer with different ages served with aceto balsamico aged from 10 to 40 yrs. The owner and her daughter run the restaurant - wonderful people - we returned 3 times to eat there.

Hotel on Grand Canal

Posted Jul 16, 2014
Pros: Position
Cons: Small rooms could be enlarged but difficult without major refitting
Location: In the heart of Venice
Very good position. Rooms were, however, very small although contained essentials. Hotel and Restaurant were very expensive but not untypical for Venice.

Return visit even better than the first

Posted Jul 5, 2014
Pros: Everything is just right for Venice.
Location: Central location with great access to vaporetti and water taxis (as well as gondolas).
The Londra Palace Hotel is perfectly situated only a short walk past the Danieli and the Bridge of Sighs to St Marks Square. Breakfast on the street level terrace is a people watching treat. The front facing rooms give a wonderful view of traffic on the Grand Canal.

Fantastic hotel - centrally located!

Posted Jun 26, 2014
Pros: Location, room, hotel restaurant
Location is awesome - very close to the St. Marks Square and vaporetto stops are right at your doorsteps. The hotel staffs are very friendly and they offer you great suggestions for where to go, etc. The food at the breakfast buffet was excellent. I also had dinner at the hotel's restaurant - this was so far the best meal I had during my 10 day visit in Italy!

Great hotel but shame about the pidgeons!

Posted Jun 17, 2014
Pros: Location, room facilities and decor.
Cons: See my comments above.
Location: St. Mark's Square, Bridge of Sighs and not too far from the Rialto Bridge.
Stayed at the Londra Palace for one night with my daughter on 14th June. The hotel is very close to St. Mark's Square on the waterfront, within walking distance to all the main sights of Venice. The staff on reception were very helpful, professional and polite. We arrived early, so our room was not ready, however, our luggage was kept in storage while we went off exploring the sights. We returned to check-in later and found the room to a very high standard of cleanliness, facilities with lovely decor and had a great view from the window. However, the breakfast experience the next morning is the reason why I would not recommend this hotel to my family or friends. We had an early flight so went down just after 7am and shown to a table outside. Within seconds of the coffee and croissants arriving, we were joined by some pigeons and smaller birds flying around waiting for some crumbs, sitting on empty tables around us, walking over the cutlery etc. We kept shooing them away but were annoyed that the staff were not doing more to help, until we got very annoyed. A waitress then sprayed some water at them which helped for at least 2 minutes! When other guests joined us, they had the same problem too. The waiting staff told us that this was an ongoing problem, so we were surprised that nothing has been done to avoid this i.e. proving meals indoors. Its a shame that this spoilt the end of the stay for us because we intend to come back to Venice for a longer break next time.

Lovely hotel in central location

Posted Jun 6, 2014
Pros: Almost everything!
Cons: Perhaps a choice of a slightly less expensive menu in restaurant.
Location: Central location with access to travel and sightseeing in easy walking distance.
The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. There was a national strike on our last day and they were quick to offer alternative travel arrangements . The breakfast buffet was a delight!!
