Very nice hotel - friendly staff - good breakfast. Handy for Venice - 15 mins in bus

We were quite pleased when we arrived as the hotel was obviously of a high standard and the staff were very welcoming quite late in the evening. Our room was very nice, but there seemed to be a lot of dust on the surfaces which remained throughout our stay. Getting to Venice was not difficult as there is a bus stop a couple of minutes walk from the hotel and the buses are very frequent (both there and back - Bus No. 4). The en-suite was spotless and the bed very large. One of the first things we noticed, and we were on the first floor looking out over the garden, was that the corridors were well carpeted and the walls were also covered in a sort of carpet material which deadened any sound of other people coming back to their rooms at night - in fact we didn't hear anyone else at all once we were in our room. The windows were also double glazed and very large, but they could also be opened fully. The breakfast was very good and the breakfast staff couldn't have done more to help and were really friendly. I would really recommend the Michelangelo Hotel in Mestre if you don't want to be in a pokey hotel on Venice Island for the same money with a lot of noise to disturb you.
